Hello Mr flynn, I would like to find the area of my full sized acoustic guitar and compare it to that if a much smaller travel size guitar that i built myself. (Maybe volume) And from this comparison i was thinking of seeing if the material usage is porportional, how much wax, stain or paint i would need to paint them or which is more portable. I could also use the volume of the body to compare how loud they are. Do you think any of these ideas are viable ? Id use a cad software to present the modelling if i used the volume. Even if you dont grt back to me, id like to thank you for this super helpfull video thag really gave me some inspiration. Thanks!

@@MrFlynnIB Wow thanks for the reply ! My teacher said that the best topic would be to see if the material usage is proportional, which is fine by me. The only problem is that I Find it very difficult to make sure that the image is perfectly up to scale. is there a trick for that ? thanks

Super easy to follow, thank you. For question 20, i get the answer, but as point A is on the positive side, should the slope/gradient of BC no be perpendicular to the point rather than sloping away to make it an isosceles triangle, or point A should be -4,37
@MrFlynnIB
@MrFlynnIB 9 күн бұрын
I don't fully understand what you mean. You can't have a line perpendicular to a point. The line drawn from the point A to the line BC is perpendicular to BC. I haven't drawn it to scale if that is what you mean.

For question 16, my curriculum teaches another way: (Note: I can't put the recurring dots so assume they are there. ) 0.2813 = 0.28 + 0.0013 = 0.28 + (0.13 ÷ 100) = 28/100 + (13/99 ÷ 100) = 28/100 + (13/99 x 1/100) = 28/100 + 13/9900 = 2772/9900 + 13/9900 = 2785/9900 = 557/1980 Would this method be correct too?

Hi Mr Flynn, I am using this idea for my IA, but would there be better ways to extend this so the Maths used is harder or equivalent to IB level? For example, I am considering using more methods of testing goodness of fit of model (I used circular, quadratic, and exponential for models) like doing some residual analysis, or studying concavity, or doing something with arc length or curvature. Thanks

Do you know where to find questions similar to Q22 so I can practise? I've only got a few of weeks till winter exams. I am setting as a private candidate, not resitting, so I don't have previous experience. This type of question is not under any particular topic so I can't seem to find any practice for it. Also any similar questions for Q19? I am doing past papers but I always find these type of questions tricky so I need to work more on them.

It comes under the topic 'straight lines'. Or 'parallel and perpendicular lines'. Question 19 would be 'algebraic fractions'. Try Maths Genie, Corbett Maths and Dr. Frost. They are all very good.
