Baffles me as to why people have this sense of patriotism. Personally, I usually see it as brainwashing, a lie, illusion, or something of the sort. I just don't get it.

I'm a lefty liberal and I really liked this show. We might disagree, but as with my real Republican friends, we could still have a beer together and find something we could both bitch about. For me, this was one of the most powerful scenes of the show, because it reflected back to me, my own war obsession as a boy growing up in the '70's. I never really put it together that the disfigured men at the post office were War Veterans, or that my 7th grade homeroom teacher, missing a few fingers, probably served. While maybe not as dramatic as the series, my family had its own WWII drama, losing everything and being put in camps because they were Japanese American. Great television says many things all at once that cannot be ignored.

I hate perpetual wars policy but I also hate wokeness.

My grandfathers were both WW2 veterans; one who got shotdown over the Pacific occean and floated in the water three days before being rescued. And I have two uncles who were in Vietnam, one of them who got wounded twice, and so this episode really hit a nerve with me. They sacrifice so much, and yet we too often are in awe of celebrities, be they gifted actors or sports-figures, more than we are of the people who go over, fight and even die to protect the freedoms we enjoy. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this picture?

This show was very biased. Not surprised it was cancelled, had someone who was against the pledge of allegiance but couldn’t even explain why. There are countless of thorough explanations as to why people do not stand for the flag and why they do not associate the flags with the military. I have vets in my family or close circle who feel the same way.
