I had to put the family dog to sleep last week. It broke my heart. She had cancer and arthritis 😢 I'm gonna learn this song on guitar. ❤

@john Sorry to hear about your poor beloved dog. Richey was heartbroken when his dog Snoopy was put to sleep at the end of 1994 shortly before his disappearance.... He planted a tree on his grave. My beloved cat died of incurable cancer despite best treatment given... We share, we care. Richey said "She" was desire. Devastating beauty, Richey - Mr RichardJames Edwards a heart breaker... Baby Boy it'sgoing to be 30th anniversary of his disappearance on 1 February 2025....

Good arrangement on this track. Certainly that little bit different to the usual Manics tracks. Looking forward to hearing/seeing them live on the telly on Radio 2's live weekend festival this weekend.

Jools has hosted some great performances over the last three decades, but this one's up there with the tops - manics never sounded better than this. Stunning.

Oddly the official video is a depiction of the neuclear family who have no faces and only communicate with each other via barcode type scanners.. Funny then that in 2024 here we are with the looming threat of digital id’s cashless digital money and the future prospect of being micro chipped with all our personal data on that chip including bank details health details and then they introduce the new social credit scoring system it kinda looks as if the manics where showing us in the original video the future that was to become our eventual reality.. The song is aparantly about the spanish war but is it really because people who write lyrics have a good way to get a message accross by playing with word’s so whilst you think it’s about a war it’s about how they see your future

The Manics should do an orchestral album...bit like Def Leppard's one...they've got the "epicness" and canvas the songs have to do this. Missed this song when it was out at the time. Could time travel back and have a good talk with my twenty three year old self!. "Listen to the Manics!" I'd say...it's a masterpiece...

This for me, is one off the top five 90’s anthems. It’s up there with “don’t look back in anger”.

James almost cracked at points here -- it amazes me he was able to perform this song so well at that particular time. Unimaginable emotion he must have been feeling singing those words.

Those were hard times for the band, when Richey was in the rehab, and they went to MTV to raise some money to pay for his treatment.

I remember watching this when it aired, at the age of 8. I had never seen such an intense live singer before, and was fascinated. I went to the local library and rented Everything Must Go and taped it, as I didn't get much pocket money (sorry lads). I have returned to watch it on KZbin dozens of times over the years.

This is about the Spanish Civil War, and the idealism of people from around the world who volunteered to be part of the International Brigade fighting Franco’s fascist army. The track became the band’s first UK #1 single, making it their joint highest-charting single alongside “The Masses Against the Classes”.

[Verse 1] The future teaches you to be alone The present to be afraid and cold So if I can shoot rabbits Then I can shoot fascists Bullets for your brain today But we'll forget it all again Monuments put from pen to paper Turns me into a gutless wonder [Chorus] And if you tolerate this, then your children will be next And if you tolerate this, then your children will be next Will be next, will be next, will be next [Verse 2] Gravity keeps my head down Or is it maybe shame At being so young and being so vain? Holes in your head today But I'm a pacifist I've walked La Ramblas But not with real intent [Chorus] And if you tolerate this, then your children will be next And if you tolerate this, then your children will be next Will be next, will be next, will be next See Manic Street Preachers Live Get tickets as low as $98 You might also like All The Parties Drake 7 Minute Drill J. Cole Pricey J. Cole & Ari Lennox [Bridge] And on the street tonight, an old man plays With newspaper cuttings of his glory days [Chorus] And if you tolerate this, then your children will be next And if you tolerate this, then your children will be next Will be next, will be next, will be next [Outro] Ahh ahhh, ahh ahhh Ahh ahhh, ahh ahhh
