Richard, I have always lived this idea, tank and your dedication to this project as I hope you know. I was always very proud of you for making this tank happen. I am disappointed that they have taken it down after everything that has went into making it what it was, they should have just moved it. This type of tank should be huge and highlighted in every aquarium across the USA because it highlighted so many things that are important to the future of the world’s corals and reefs. It’s nice the replacement is bringing attention to the efforts being put forward here in Florida to restore the Florida reef track so I guess it a plus that it was replaced with that. I definitely think that the tank was a proof of concept to possibly bring this idea to many many more public aquariums across the US to highlight what can be done to aquaculture corals to keep the future of the worlds reefs alive if something was to happen in nature. Anyways, well done with this project, I know how much effort and the many years you put into it and the whole aquarium hobby and industry was behind you and gave nothing but support for it! Hope all is well with you and your family, it’s been a minute since we have saw each other. On to the next one brotha and happy new year!

@@darthcon34 they would both do well in that regards. So it will come to your personal choices. Which one looks better to you aesthetically? Which app looks better to you? What is your environment? Is your environment humid and salty like a coral farm or somewhere super tropical and humid like Australia? Then Straton Pro would be better because it's passive cooled. If not, Orphek works just as well. it's personal opinion at this point. Looks, how you can mount, apps and the cost. Hope it helps!

As I understand it….These porosity tests are not a reflection of a real world application in your tank, where atmospheric pressure is normal (14.7 psi). I’m sure these products do work, but unless you are forcing water thru the material at pressure, the statements regarding surface area are limited to aerobic bacteria. The interior is limited to anaerobic bacteria.

I hope we see more captive bred corals to market in 2025. I got an acantastrea pachysensis at the end of last year as my first captive bred coral and it's been really exciting watching it grow and feeding it more like a pet then just another coral among many. Obviously timeline and size play a factor but I'm a little surprised the buzz for them lags behind fish so much.
@Reefscom22 күн бұрын
@@captivebredcanada it absolutely has to do with the time it takes to grow to have it commercially ready as well as not having enough variety of corals that's captive spawned. It will catch on, slowly but surely. It has to!

@@Reefscom I mean if there is a market for brightly coloured acro nubs there should be a market for pinky fingernail LPS..

@captivebredcanada absolutely. But the fundamental difference is that acros are fragged not spawned. Spawning effort takes a lot of time, resources and effort. It will get there slowly but surely. I can second the Straton. If you are a set it and acclimate slow hobbyist, it will perform great. High end option are Ecotech and GHL. I just did not want to buy 3 or 4 pucks and got this. Should be serviceable and modular panels, maxwell driver and simple wifi box. Really needs a proper USA launch as info is sparse on great light.
