To be fair to the Trade Federation, them losing Naboo was pretty insane. As was the army appearing out of thin air in Attack of the Clones. While it is not as likely the CIS would have been even close to as successful without Palpatine's choices for general and leader. (Grevious and Dooku), it would have likely been a lot more successful just in terms of having a second power to rival the Hutts and the Galactic Republic at least.

003 Grievous: crushed a Padawan, killed 5 Jedi Knight, beaten 3 Jedi Council, easily slaughter the Clones of Legendary Bounty Hunter and a former Mandalorian including the Senate Guards, doesn't need four arms if, can use lightsaber with a foot, and has both brutal yet honorable coolest warrior Villain. 2008 Grievous: lose to a Padawan, when struggle enough for him to use dirty trick to win, always running away when losing, got beat up by a gungan, never seeing him killing a single Jedi Knight, always relying on four arms, got himself dogpiled and punched by a clone, and being a complete cowardly loser screaming out like every Saturday morning mustache Cartoon villains.

Fun fact, in the EU, Dooku does still call himself a Jedi a fair amount of the time. Unlike Dave Fuckloni's character assassination in The Clone Wars series, the EU writers actually made Dooku complex instead of the moustache twirling cartoon that Fuckloni gave us. He somewhat redeemed himself with Tales of the Jedi but by that point, he'd already done far too much damage to Dooku.

These movies are the only fully canonical portrayal of Count Dooku. Everything else is fanfiction. Sometimes excellent fanfiction (Tales of the Jedi), sometimes terrible fanfiction (The Clone Wars 2008), and sometimes somewhere in between (Clone Wars 2003), but Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith are the only Dooku appearances that cannot ever be decanonised.
