What a lovely lady...both of you, I mean. 😆You never fail to do your homework, Keith, and your gift for engaging and connecting with your guests fills your conversations with the trust and ease of an old friendship. Besides all that, you both look and SOUND fabulous. 😉😉 Love the coincidence of Patrick Swayze here with another recent reference I shared with you -- pretty spooky, huh? 👻

KECIA LEWIS FOR THE WIN - I CANT BELEIVE YOU SAID THAT ABOUT JESSICA LANGE - IMO THAT WAS 12 OF THE GREATEST MINUTES I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFETIME IN THE THEATRE...THAT NO ONE ELSE COULD HAVE PULLED OFF. HERS WAS A MASTER CLASS IN ACTING...AND TO SAY "WE GOT IT AFTER TWO MINUTES?" THAT'S BEYOND BELIEF. I'M OUTTA HERE
@josephlim68547 ай бұрын
@15:00 I agree!!!!!!!! @26:58 I think it's more a direction issue than an actress issue to be honest. I watched it in London previews and Jessie Buckley did something similar. What was better though is the stage was rotating so it didn't matter where you sat. @30:30 I thought the Tony nominators themselves are experts in their fields? Ideally I hope they voted on who they really think were the best of the best this season. @32:15 I wish Corey Cott was nominated. @34:29 ahhhh the snark! lmao! @37:29 I'm surprised too but remember tony awards is a competition and some seasons it's quite competitive! @51:03 is there a pro-shot of this Merrily revival? @52:00 you mean 3 weeks! @53:11 ah so much snark lol! Love Ben! @55:00 If it's the first production on Broadway, then it should be eligible for the new play/musical. @59:50 I loved The Collaboration!!! I'm a fan of MTC. @1:02:40 I thought The Notebook score/music is hummable/memorable ("My Days", "Sadness/Joy", etc.) @1:06:20 you gotta give the Tony voters more credit... the majority voted Strange Loop back in 2022. @1:07:26 sadly and surprisingly Greif hasn't won a Tony Award.... yet! Thank you for this! Enjoyed listening to you guys!

I enjoyed listening to your thoughts on the upcoming awards. Greg -- you presented your case for Illinoise as best musical perfectly. I felt the same way when I saw the show at the Armory, and I'm seeing it again next week. It will be only the second time I've paid to see a show twice (Kimberly Akimbo was the first).

Saying Eddie Redmayne looked autistic in Cabaret is wild to me. I found Eddie fantastic. Like can we stop comparing him to Alan Cumming? He’s not Alan Cumming. I like that he chose to play the emcee as a creepier version.

The Wiz was panned roundly. To be so fixated on it being "robbed" is ridiculous. Let it go. Geez.
@keithpricescurtaincall33948 ай бұрын
Something is panned,.Big Deal. It will not change how the audiences feel after the show. It will not change the fact that it is STILL top 5 selling on Broadway. So sorry that my enthusiasm about it bothers you, but your opinion really won't change anything for me, so thank you for your input. You are free to listen and vibe with anybody else you choose. My feelings are not shattered. We are not all out on this earth to agree with each other, and that is okay by me.
@glennr27078 ай бұрын
@@keithpricescurtaincall3394 Of course. But according to your logic, Tony nominations or awards should be going only to top grossing shows, which of course leaves no room for consideration of artistic values or a particular production or actor or whatever moving the art forward.
@keithpricescurtaincall33948 ай бұрын
The assumption is these particular awards are for artistry only. Remember, the Tonys, Oscars, Grammys, etc., are all exaggerated Trade shows. To advertise anything that isn't really available for anyone to see, unless it can be on PBS before the rest of the voting body can see it, isn't good business.
@glennr27078 ай бұрын
@@keithpricescurtaincall3394 I will accept your "trade show" analogy and the point you are making.

these guys are uninformed they spent way too much time in the introduction. They were disrespectful to some of the actors and I did not enjoy them at all and I don’t think they’re on target.

So I guess you won't be listening again? Sad that you feel that way, but you really know nothing about us or our varied experiences, while basing your intense displeasure in our conversation to comment ,because of your differences with our opinion. The best part is knowing that when it is all said and done, you will go back to your life, and we will go back to ours. Respectfully, please enjoy yours.

I saw Back to the Future in 2022 in London (with Roger Bart). I didn’t expect it to be Shakespeare and hit the mark in terms of a fun summer night out. It was well done and the FX were pretty good. I liked the performances and the songs were familiar and fun.

My hot take is that Paulson was only average in Appropriate thought i rate her as a tv actress. I saw her understudy do it twice with pages when she was out with Covid and then her when she came back a few days later and thought the understudy was waay better in the role
@keithpricescurtaincall33948 ай бұрын
Sometimes the understudies or swings ARE better than the people that are cast in the roles. I guess that it is almost their time, but not just yet.

You can’t deny that Daniel Radcliffe has improved immensely over the years. If you think he wasn’t a good fit for Charlie I’m going to have to disagree. Merrily is my favorite show and I was definitely worried about him at first, but he has done nothing but impress me in this role.
@robertr7988 ай бұрын
The truth is, Keith, “The Wiz” got dreadful reviews. Nothing to do with reaching a quota. If the production was better, it would’ve been included.
@markgreen95678 ай бұрын
I absolutely agree Robert. I don’t believe The Wiz was robbed either Keith. The show was embarrassingly bad. (I hold the original 70s version in high regards).
@keithpricescurtaincall33948 ай бұрын
If you seen it and still believe the reviews then bully for you. At least, you can stand behind your sentiment, and I applaud you. However, If you are only using reviews without any evidence of your own, then it's not really your truth, is it?
@LuckyDipster28 ай бұрын
TWO nominations for Back To The Future, actually. That's not nothing. I don't think any show that has brought so much joy to so many people should be talked down about as much as it is. It's like some of you have a problem with fun. I've seen Merrily too and Radcliffe will totally deserve his win when he gets it, but Roger Bart is GOATed and very much deserves his nomination for his reinvention of Doc Brown.
@ericowensnyc8 ай бұрын
WE saw it 3 weekends ago in previews and it was just OK. The real stars of the show was the actors that played the scarecrow & lion. I felt the costumes looked cheap & stage sets not grand enough. I am a Wiz historian collector and I expected more. ☹️☹️☹️
