There's an Emmaus in Leeds, so not just in Wales. One of my favourite places as they have a flat price of £2 per clothing item.

I really can't believe that people buy things from charity shops to resell. To each their own and I suppose once you've bought it you can do what you like with it.
@theluxurypickersАй бұрын
The great thing is the amount of money the charities make, resellers on average probably buy 10x more then the average person. And therefore that’s 10x the average money spent, all going into the charities bank. Not just that but the amount of clothes and accessories going back into circulation is massive, instead of going to rag or landfill. Thousands of items go through single charity shops monthly, meaning there is so much to go around. I can’t believe the amount of people that don’t use charity shops and add to the millions of pounds being spent on fast fashion, lining the pockets of companies funding cheap labour and producing items that aren’t fit for use, that end up with in landfill within a year. And what I love the most is people that advertise charity shopping for free on their socials showing people the amazing things you can find in them!
@monicas2269Ай бұрын
@@theluxurypickers I do use charity shops but just to buy for myself. I never thought about buying stuff and selling it on. I very rare buy clothes for myself anyway, I wear my things until they drop off me, lol. I never go anywhere to need something fancy.
@theluxurypickersАй бұрын
@@monicas2269 that’s the great thing about charity shops there is something for everyone! You can find high end luxury, designer to ready to wear from marks and Spencer’s to John Lewis for a fraction of retail and that super cool! I know people that just resell from them, do a bit of both, reselling and for themselves. Both professionally and on the side, making their personal clothes absolutely free! But the best thing is the charity ultimately benefits whatever! Both through buying and donations!

I'm new to your channel and I just wanted to say well done and thank you for the entertaining and educational information. I have some disabilities which make regular working and manual labour off limits in recent years. I've also recently been inspired by a Collector uncle and all the under sold stock at local charity shops to see if I can find a way to capitalise on re-selling goods, around my health issues. I'm brand new to the field and have much to learn, your content is absolute gold. <3

The key to thrift shops in the US is the neighborhood they are in and if in a major city. I live in Hawaii in a fairly rich neighborhood and come across Maje, BAASH, Ted Baker, and Karen Millen etc. That's why I enjoy watching your channel. Rich people seem to travel and relocate quite a bit. Finally consider consignment shops such as Crossroads, Buffalo Exchange, and even Platos. When they have sales you can get a great deal.

You can definitely find luxury items in American thrift stores, but because we have so many resellers you have to catch it as soon as the new racks roll out of the back, or you’ll never find anything. Where I live I find luxury items regularly, but I have to hit dozens of thrift stores in order to do that. Thrift store prices in this country are all over the place. Last time I went sourcing one thrift store had all Tommy Bahama $19.99 and another thrift store had a low end polo for $29.99.
