Thank you for making this video available on youtube. I have watched your amazing video, very helpful and I appreciate it. I read from the comment that you used R.S Varshney book as a reference. I found that the formula of specific speed, peripheral coefficient and turbine speed is similar. Yet, I'm still confused with the runner diameter formula, because in the book it's say that particular formula is for calculating the D3 or Diameter at the discharge end. Would you give me some explanation about the relation between runner diameter (D-runner) and diameter at the discharge end (D3)? I also could not found the formula of hub diameter in the book. Would you give me further information about the formula as well as the rest of formulas you use? And how to determine the diameter ratio of 0.4? NACA airfoil is used in your design for Kaplan turbine runner and it is used in most of propeller axial turbine. but we see in bigger Kaplan turbine that cross section of runner blades are too thin and they can't be NACA airfoil. Do you have more information about it?

I like this however, in reality the runner blade profile section thickness is bigger at the hub and goes on becoming smaller towards the tip of the blade. Is it possible to manually change the profle of the blade at each diameter to realise this

Here you have used Coupled Method, If you use SIMPLE Method u'll get the [ Lift Force - 35.814 N & Lift-Coefficient - 0.259 ] and which is more accurate values when we compare with experimental results, Because I have Performed the Simulation and i felt to comment, Hope! it Helps to others, if any mistake is there let me know

Why meshing is taking so long?

it usually does, from your question I can see that you are making the mesh fine for the whole domain, which would take time unless you have better computer specifications. But to overcome this, simulators generally isolate the fine mesh about the model being analyzed and leave the system with a much coarser mesh. Of course, this solution is applicable only for simulating applications similar to the video, in some cases, you have no other choice but to wait for it to mesh. I once did a piston combustion simulation and the mesh for it took 1 day. So yeah such is the case.
