hi! I need your help to understand why my digispark behaves like this: just blinking after uploading the code.
@blugoose862 күн бұрын
Not telling anyone how to repair a mistake, I found that using low melt solder is easier to remove a component from the PCB and then wicking up the excess solder gains a higher probability of NOT damaging the PCB or the traces. You just have to make sure that once the part has been removed, you wick up all the low melt solder from the board AND the component, as low melt solder is very brittle.

OK let me test this quite fast: My GMC-300E doesn't show any strange thigs when hit by a flashlight. If you have a bit more budget have a look at the Radiacode 102 or now 103. It's more sensitive and you can enter the world of gammaspectroscopy.

@labcat73Ай бұрын
Well I just used this breakout board that has another USB-C connector at the bottom and connected another cable to my Powerbank. So I guess it's just plain +5V between VBUS and Ground. P.S.: Beware the Insta360 One R microphone detection bug. See one of my last videos. I just try to find a workaround for that. A 4.7K resistor instead of directly pulling the microphone detection pin to ground seems to help, but needs more testing.

Update: I did a bit of Internet forensics and it turns out Insta360 was aware of the bug, even put a Beta firmware onto some shared drive and then “forgot” to include the bug fix in all official firmware versions coming after that. So the last official version still has the bug and they left all users who spent >600€ on a camera behind and moved on to the ONE RS. Looks to me that the ONE R was one big public beta test to iron out the kinks. As cool as 360 cameras are, i personally can just say: Lesson learned, next camera of that form factor will be from the competition. DJI or GoPro, if they are still around. 😕 As a software developer i can’t accept this sloppy disrespectful behavior. Yes products have an EOL and can’t be supported forever, but hey guys you had a fix ages ago, wtf?!

When removing components, let me recommend some stuff called ChipQwik. It's not only good for SMT, but can also aid in removal of through-hole components. Regarding solder choice, my preference is 63/37 lead water soluble Kester. It wets pads and leads much better than lead free which I detest.

The MAT50 is not meant to be used with a triple magnet base system. A triple magnet base system has plenty of magnet power (capacitive coupling) to bond with a metal surface as a counterpoise. The MAT50 is meant for adding a magnetic bond (capacitive coupling) to a metal surface when you have no counterpoise or a weak magnetic counterpoise due to a very small magnet base. You can put any antenna base you like onto the triple magnet bracket. Just choose one with a better construction as a friction/pressure fit in an antenna base is just asking for problems with bad connection due to lack of pressure or eventually corrosion. Extra connections on the bracket would be good when you are stationary and want to run extra radials for your counterpoise on the lower bands (20M-80M etc.) rather than just having the size of your vehicle as the counterpoise on those bands which would be ineffective.

Hi LabCat, what's your opinion about the TH-D75 after 3 months?
@labcat732 ай бұрын
Yes i still owe you the update video. Sorry for that. I also didn't manage to get an VHF/UHF antenna back onto my roof yet. My impression so far is, that the menu system needs some time to get used to. It took me ages to figure out how to add a station to the FM Radio Channel list. Most unintuitive. - Having said that, most of the settings you frequently need are accessible from the front panel. The D-Star integration that shows you the closest repeater based on GPS coordinates is also nice. So overall it's a nice radio, it's a Kenwood, but is it worth the price-tag? Probably not. My impression is that the UI is somehow stuck between the old Kenwood way where everything is a special keyboard shortcut and a menu system where not everything makes sense. E.g. why all the digital mode stuff is on a second menu parallel to the normal menu is strange. One can only guess that Kenwood thought about using the same menu for radios without D-Star and thus the digital stuff is separated from everything else. Having a specific number assigned to each menu entry is a great idea though. I hope that helps a bit. 73, Tobias

Fun fact: As the kit was so simple, I didn't download the PDF that was linked in a QR code in the description. Silly me, i could have saved 10 minutes figuring out the electrolytic capacitor orientation. Just zoom into the PDF dum-dum! It also contains step by step pictures where to put the components. The language is a bit weirdly translated to German though. So my only critique about this kit is the dodgy volume potentiometer and the minor difficulty of soldering the amplifier SMD chip. The sensitivity adjustment of the LEDs is not perfect. I turn the potentiometer all the way up and only then i get the full light show with really loud music. So there is room for more experinents. E.g. connecting the LED separately to the input to make it independent of the amplifier volume and only show a good level for the input signals.
