I played this song in bands as a kid and recently added it to a set I'm playing with some friends. Thought I would come here and learn how to play it right. RIP my man, one of my biggest influences when I started as a young drummer in the 70s.

Massive respect for Butch. If it wasn't 3:30am here, I'd go back into my music room and practice this on my kit...

Butch kicked dickey out of the allmans because dickey still partied and he didn't. And derej got brought into the band and im sure he didnt want dickey influence on derek. That ruined the band in my eyes. Dickey and greg combo was abb. But butch was also always jealous of dickey and his fame. It's sad. Dickey took him into different bands with him. I wish dickey and butch got to patch things up.

The Allman Brothers Band was the most unique band of our time! Everyone just clicked perfectly, it must have been such a damn joy to play with such talent...!!! Thank you so damn much, it was some of the first drum stuff I learned on my first drum set, I was blown away then, and still am every time I play to it! Butch you will NEVER be for gotten my brother!!

Fantastic. Saw him in '71 in New Orleans and went out bought a trap. There was a second guy on another trap set? Allowed them to play for hours.

Beautiful drumming, love that jazz influence especially the snare , combine that with the twin leads and Jaimos brilliance and you have the perfect band. No wonder Clapton was in awe of them .

This might be the moment I realized drummers aren't just like Animal from the Muppets.....LOL Just kidding all your drummers. As a guitar player, I can tell you that an awesome drummer makes playing so easy. Butch is a master. I love his touch and tempo. Brilliant video.

This is priceless. I have no talent for playing any instrument but have as good ear and great respect for anyone who has mastered their craft. Have never seen instructional video on how to play drums. Looks very hard. As does guitar. Thank you for this, Butch. You are greatly missed.

As a long time fan of both ABB and GD, I gotta say I think Butch and Jaimoe was a better duo than Billy and Mickey. I like GD better but my favorite era for them was '71 to '73, when Mickey went in a self imposed exile. And I also credit him for their later success due to his "power" drumming, for lack of a better term. But Butch and Jaimoe just had a completely different way about them that was so subtle, but at the same time so pertinent to their sound. Imho of course, Im not a musician.
