The paper thin tin foil 1.2 mm you applied on the wall, doesn't do anything. It needs to be at least 6mm and up to 10mm thick to see an actual effects of energy from outside being blocked and not transferred inside. You wasted time and money. /facepalm

Disagree, this foil is used in households every day to reflect radiator heat back in. Not only that every DIY store sells this type of foil. Of course there is the chance you know better than everyone. I do agree however, the thicker the better. But this will still do a good job 👍🏼

The bitumen self adhesive sound deadening strips? Sure, it helps reduce an excess noise from rain, wind etc

I'm on my first build a connect, iv done sound deadening & put some bubble foil double sided insulation on with adhesive, then going to put some plastic insulation like wool all over then was wondering to do foil bubble wrap or a plastic sheeting for vapour barrier? I'm lost. 😂

Yes, if we have the same budget. If we had an unlimited budget then we would use rigid board insulation and spray foam 😊

Wool should never ever ever be used for insulation. It will create moisture like there is no tomorrow.

Wool does not “create” moisture, its actually really good at regulating itself with moisture control, I'm not sure why you believe it should never ever ever be used for insulation.

@@nicroams Look when outside is cold and inside is warm, water condensation occurs in the walls of the van. Wool “absorbs” humidity that is the reason wool should never be used for insulation. You do not believe me? Look in KZbin for wool insulation moisture issues and you will be surprise what you find.

Hello! Not in this build we didn’t, as we went for a different style, you could easily do it and it would make it sturdier but we didn’t want to lose any precious headroom, we secured each strip into the corrugated plastic sheet as well as into some metal, if you watch this short, it might make it clearer :) kzbin.infoV-r7zeBI1XY?si=6xuHxjVYGU2e_4Kx

Greetings from Australia. Nice to see your conversion. I converted a 2014 Renault Trafic LWB van, which is a leisure van for my wife and me. We don't sleep in it. We have made some long trips in it but sleep in cabins in caravan parks. We are both seniors in our 70's and 80's and like a bit more comfort. The van has done well for us over the last 10 years. I did the conversion myself in 2014. I wish you well.

love the build. I want to do something like that myself. This is a 2 seater version right ? I would love to take a 4 seater and just take out 1 seat permanently and keep one in (semipermanently) that i can take out, whenever i go full vanlife mode, so i can take more people.. Is that something you have already thought about ?

Thank you! Ah ok is that the caddy maxi life? This van is for sale so not on the cards 😂, I think it would lose too much space in the van too for a seat, depends what your priorities are, if you plan on taking two extra people in your van everyone, it’s unlikely you would all sleep in there?

Very interesting watch. However I’d have gone with a much lighter colored interior rather than the dark green. It makes the inside area seem so dark and dreary. A lighter green,blue,yellow etc would have gave it a much more open and welcome feel.

That’s cool, you should definitely do that in your campervan 😀 we wanted to go for a more relaxed, cozy and regal finish, darker paints actually make a small space look bigger.

Our ex BG Caddy maxi has a 12v charging socket by where the bulkhead used to be (I removed it). My Bluetti says you shouldn't charge things from it while the power station itself is being charged. We made a reolution not to cook in the van. Its just easier to pick stuff along the way or have a meal out in the locality.

@@nicroams We only use the Caddyas a metal tent for short trips away at the weekend so not really an issue. Saying that, we have made some changes to lower the bed - it was rather like sleeping in a coffin....🙂

Oh no. It's terrible being sick on vacation. I actually pinched a nerve in my lumbar while on a trip to Mount Ranier and I had so much hiking planned. It was a bummer. I hope you finally got to feeling better. As far as fireflies, my backyard in Tennessee is inundated with fireflies all summer long!

There's nothing worse than getting so ill abroad. The main thing is not to get dehydrated. I always take dioralyte with me while travelling. Hope you recovered from this fast.
