I did not have a laugh while watching this... actually, this part with Pluto struggling to take off this shrinking sweater (and this "mask" the sweater turned into) were genuinely scary to me. And this part with those legs moving on their own... like if that damn sweater was possessed.

Man, although cartoony and improbable, that shot of the clock mechanism at 0:56 ALMOST makes sense. We have an escape wheel connected to the second hand, a pallet (why not two, though?), connected to a pendulum, and apparently a fly-ball governor(!) geared to the time train, which presumably slows the speed of the train when the pallet releases? (in real clocks with a remontoire, they usually have a fly-fan to serve this function). The wheels also turn intermittently as regulated by the pendulum, which is also as it should be, (although most of them turn too fast and several don't seem to be meshing with anything!), so the drawing/engineering of this one is several steps ahead of most subsequent cartoon tower clocks where everything is spinning all the time, and way too fast! Of course the subsequent mechanism (mainspring, balance wheel, etc.) is just, well, GOOFY, but hey that's the way it goes to get the most laughs :)

Andrew Barrett Do you just fucking come on here to share your stupid, gay hobby? Come on dude, it's a cartoon. Not How It's Made. Stop analyzing it and just watch.

OK name that famous waltz at 6:54 where Goofy is walking the rope and nearly falling quite far. Hint: It's not the "Blue Danube" nor "Over the Waves" nor (as might be expected) "The Man on the Flying Trapeze". It's another one. Let's see who gets it :)

Further, dig how after the battle with the "mainspring", Donald gets stuck in a balance wheel with hairspring (like found in a normal watch, or small ship's clock or carriage clock), albeit a giant size one. What kind of a clock has BOTH a pendulum and a balance and hairspring is never explained... (I KNOW it's a cartoon, and all in fun, I just like trying to figure out people's reasoning for these things)

The "spring" (ROTFL there are no ginormous springs in tower clocks) is "voiced" by a person playing a jaw-harp, whose throat is mic'd, I believe. Very clever!

Do you remember if you were a kid back in the late 1970s, Fisher-Price Toys put out a Movie Viewer with a free cartridge? The free cartridge that came with every Movie Viewer was this one, but edited for length and without any sound.

"I ain't a-scared o 'no ghosts!" Could that possibly be the inspiration for the famous line in Ray Parker, Jr's Ghostbusters Song? I just can't help but think, if it is, he got it wrong!
