My thought also. Plus, if you throw the racs in the washing machine all the burns get so soft that they pop off the metal as soon as you pass the sponge once and no elbow grease or hours of waiting required.

What do you mean put the racs in a washing machine??? Wouldn't that ruin the machine?

Thanks for making this video! I am doing a fireplace atm - you mentioned that this one is decorative only. The fireplace already in place at my house was described as decorative only by the seller - is this a different type of fireplace? Or what are the differences vs an active fireplace/ what would you do differently? Thanks so much! Love your vids
@sharnshouseАй бұрын
you're welcome! It just means the chimney at the top is probably capped off, so if you lit a fire the smoke wouldn't be able to escape. Or they might have installed something up the chimney to block it in a similar way, therefore you can't light a fire!

Thanks for such a great tutorial! Exactly what I needed ☺ Do you know how then the light fitting attaches to the ceiling rose? Can the plastic back plate be just glued, or is it screwed on? Thanks!
@sharnshouseАй бұрын
We fixed ours down with a little bit of No More Nails and screwed it in for extra security!

Nah no chance Either rip off and apply new panels or overboard the old panels. Thats not cost effective if you add up the man hours. Crazy

Easier, build a full roof and go out for the sun, more fun less money and less cleaning, not to mention the maintenance and worries

Should you have used it on the lime mortar? Surely you have now stopped it doing its job of pulling out any moisture of the bricks
@lizlizchristian2 ай бұрын
Lime mortar is a light cream colour, whereas modern mortar is more grey. Maybe they wanted to keep the traditional look.

Not sure… did you use a different stain on the rest of the spindles compared to the newel post? Why didn’t you strip the spindles? Looks like you stained or painted over them..
