I grew up racing American muscle cars in the SW US but I do like the Japanese machines. The difference is that American cars are built around pure muscle... horsepower. Japanese cars are harmonious. They are a balanced system. Rather than stuff the biggest engine in that they could, they set an engine and then designed a car that everything worked to the limit imposed by the engine. Both are appealing but as I get older (and slower) I find myself attracted to the lower horsepower but better balanced Japanese machines. Of course tuning gave some of those Japanese cars as much HP as muscle cars. Right now I have a bit of both worlds, an older Mazda and a Cadillac CTS-V coupe. Both are fun but if I bend the Mazda it is a lot cheaper to fix than the Caddi.
