Ive seen this show 10 times. It simply never fails to impress. Its glorious, haunting and utterly captivating.

Just went yesterday with my mother and boyfriend, they surprised me with tickets! I almost cried when the overture started, it’s just so powerful and it was something I’ve been looking forward to for almost 12 years. Such an amazing experience!

I remember seeing this on Broadway, the audience were so uncultured. As soon as the first notes hit, they were all cheering and wooping like it was a sports game. Glad i first saw it in the West End so it wasn't ruined by philistines,

I saw Phantom live at His Majesty’s Theatre a couple weeks ago, and this was the most magical part of the musical. It is just amazing, absolutely beautiful

Saw the show again yesterday at His Majesty's. This was my 5th time having seen it first as a teen about 30 years ago. This time i took my own teenage daughter to see it, and the look of awe on her face seeing this opening moment for the first time was incredible. The power of this moment for me is the way, as the chandelier comes to life and slowly rises as the set changes behind, induces a feeling of being transported back through time. The clock reversing as the stage transforms, and the supernatural sound of the organ and the lightning flashing, all enveloping your senses. With the sudden transition to Carlotta mid voice, it's like being dropped in to a moment in time, with you as an audience member at the Opera house. I feel like this is one of, if not the most emersive performance experiences its possible to have. Simply incredible.

the two ladies that took me for my 18th a few days ago were shocked at how little i blinked or even moved during the show, honestly, i feel every child should go and experience such an amazing production if they can

I burst into tears without fail every time the full orchestra bursts in at 1:59 and all the drapes fall away from the set. Doesn't matter whether I'm watching it on KZbin or when I saw it on Broadway in all its bombastic megamusical glory - I cry like an absolute certified maniac.

I just can't get used to the new ugly design of the proscenium, why on earth did they butcher the magnificent work of Maria Björnson? Oh, wait, royalties of course. Not to mention the thin sound of the halved orechsre once it joins the instrumental track.

Thanks for uploading David. I've seen the original version three times and planning to see POTO again in June. Can anyone tell me how this compares? I heard some were disappointed, but prefer to hear from someone who's seen it recently.

@joshsauer4725 Жыл бұрын
Hot take, but I prefer a fully rounded chandelier vs the slim. Compacted chandelier that NY and replica productions have. I just don’t like the shape, it doesn’t feel big, majestic, or dangerous enough.

Probably now my favorite chandelier design, second to the one in Vegas.

The first note of that overture is the musical equivalent of a punch in the chest. Every...single...TIME I hear it, I always immediately take in a huge, sharp gasp of air. (1/27/2023)

I’ve seen the Briljant Original twice and the new version 3 times. I still miss the full orchestra as you could hear the music being deeper and harder, you could feel it through your body and I was actually a bit scared the first time? It’s still my favorite part of the show, but it does feel different and less overwhelming (and not bc I saw it a few times already. There’s been years inbetween)
@cje24576 Жыл бұрын
It’s also a shame they replaced the chandelier and got rid of the Angel

YES something looks so off and empty if you look around the stage, the angels were truely an iconic piece if the set

I went on the 16th of November, and was sat at the front edge of the royal circle (A21)... The set is absolutely spectacular. I even noticed that the candles flanking the balconies faded into illumination as well during this sequence. The whole theatre craft is just astounding to witness.

Does it fall right above you then if you are sitting under it and then swoop down in front of you. My mom has been a hug fan since the 1980's and she is devastated that its closing curtains. Haha she played it so much when I was little it makes me annoyed even hearing it now but it is one of my favorite musicals too So I'm trying to suprise her with a plane ticket and a ticket to see the show one last time. My sister has also never seen it in person. so any information on where to sit is absolutely appreciated!!!
