Great story. It actually brought tears to my eyes. Never give up on your dreams because dreams do come true. I am happy his parents finally understood his passion !!!

As a veteran, isn't about going to war and coming back. It's about how the military and government treats them when they returned

It is absolutely bewildering to me how a nation as great as the USA allows some of our best, brightest, and BRAVEST who've served our country and the men and women they commanded at moments when all hope of surviving the day seemed lost, to simply 'slip through the cracks' (just typing out those words makes me feel ashamed) as I have never served in the military. I came very close but having just turned 18 yrs old, I was still very naive and was talked out of it by a recruiter who told me I could be dishonorably discharged had they learned about my successful time in drug rehab when I was 16-17 yrs old. I didn't know how things really worked back then more than 4 decades ago and about how difficult it is to unseal files of a technically a juvenile but I suspect that recruiter scaring me off had something to do with the fact I wanted to enter a different branch of military service than he was being paid to recruit for. I often wonder how my life would have turned out had I stayed the course and followed my dream to serve in the USAF. With the conflicts and wars our nation has been involved in between then and now perhaps I wouldn't be here? Perhaps I wouldn't have fathered and raised 4 awesome kids to become the highly productive adults they are now? Hmm...

Nevada USA.......I always enjoy listening to this narraror. Great story. Liked the song at the ens.

Sydney, Australia. When the narator is reading the story the word 'four' is read for the symbol IV. This is correct when discussing numbers. However, in this story it should be pronounced IV as 'eye vee' meaning the drip from a stand directing medication into the patient's arm. Other than that I enjoyed the story. Aways good to see the veterans/police getting acknowledgement for their service. 👮♀

I do not understand how people from other countries, especially mexico come into our country drain our services, sell drugs rob etc. And our veterans get treated like garbage the majority of people i know and love all fought in wars thank God they came home, they were treated like garbage of course they need help why are we turning our backs on heros??

Happens to a lot of veterans from all wars and all countries! Ww1 veterans here in oz used to sell their silver victory medals for the silver value to survive post war
@bigbuck762Күн бұрын
is illegal for a recipient of the Medal of Honor to sell it; under federal law, it is considered a crime to buy, sell, or trade any military decorations or medals authorized by Congress, including the Medal of Honor.

I guess I am going to get a lot of flak over my comments but there is no Sgt John Mitchell that served recently that was awarded the CMH. The first tip off was his first name on the jacket, twice. Only the last name is used on uniforms in the military in yhe USA. Actually there were two John Mitchell's that were awarded the CMH but they were both in the Indian wars in the late 1800's. I agree this is a great story, but it is just that a story. It does however bring into the light how many of our service members have been treated in the past. I am a Vietnam Veteran and served in 1968 to 1969 and after too long of a sturggle finally recieved my disability award. Stories like this are not necessarily bad, they do bring into the light the deplorable treatment of our military, present and past. Some of the men and women that serve today have to have food stamps or other help just to feed their family. I agree that instead of giving yabba doo country 50 biillion to help fight a war they have been fighting for centuries and will never end just plain out and out ignorant. Take that money and help support the people that are protecting the country the money has come from, not some country that probably hates us anyway. Dont't let me get started here or i will probably tell you how I really feel.

Im glad that a close friend coordinates homeless veteran care in metro Atlanta. My father stayed in service 24 years. Almost got out after the Chosin Korea disaster & the night he returned home dove under the bed instantly when a plane flew over our house & mom told him to talk to his c.o. which enabled him to tell me about Casablanca, Keserine, Sicily, Naples, etc to VE Day. Gave him strength to train new troops! 💪

To Lisa Rodriguez: I’m a veteran and went to the va for medical and the lady doctor who never looked at me or asked me how I was feeling said she was going to take my drivers license away and put me in a home. 😮 I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.. I left there and never went back. I filled a complaint but nothing came of it. I will NEVER go back to the va for anything. I’ll die first… 🤷♂️

Yet another made up story. No direct references to any media coverage, no interviews with the participants. No clips of the journalist's actual article, or even a mention of the newspaper's name. What a load of BS. I have no problem with people making up stories - that's what fiction is. But don't put it out there as the truth.
@storyfactorytv2 күн бұрын

As DAV veteran. This is just a story. For one it's a Felony to purchase any medals.The congressional medal of honor cannot be sold or given away. And as far as veterans go were disposable. We no longer have value to politicians to the public.
