Eric, this is mind-boggling! 😊❤You are so very appreciated. I learned so much today I feel I should pay you. Honestly, you took me back to my days at CCAC in Oakland when they took us to various locations to paint only in watercolor! Walt Bartman gave away the store today! I owe you both a three-course meal!!!

Wow! So inspiring! I was a student of yours at Whitman (graduated in 1981) - and your classes were truly a sanctuary for a distressed teenager with no clue...

A lot of eye opening advice here that really shows that none of the process is set in stone. One can approach things in very different ways! I think finding a way that is fun and interesting to yourself is most important, and trying loads of different tricks to get there. And, surely it’s a good thing that canvases are sold white, because that allows us to pull back the light in the value sketch, which is probably my favourite stage of the painting.

Fascinating watch. Mr. Conley is an outstanding teacher. I was so fortunate to have him as a college professor.

...after 90 minutes, with all the explanations included, the tonal composition (monochrome) is supposed to be balanced... Unfortunately, it isn't, so that's not too much benefit... I wish Internet instructors take a better look at themselves before they venture in teaching others. I understand it's a source of income but...

That was a class video and ran out of time..The Intro picture is how I finished it...When I finish work, I study the values and edges...basing my decisions on repeating pattern. You only refine where you want someone to look...the rest is less defined...

@@honorataperzanowska4965 I am happy you were encouraged by my enthusiasm. It has not waned. i was happy also to see my paintings although a tad embarrassed by my first one of you alas. The second I still like which is often not the case. I just sent you a link to a class offered at the 92n st Y in NY on Modern Dance which is featuring Loii Fuller and Martha Graham. When are you returning to Florence? I am traveling during midOctober but life should settle down the latter part of the month. When i am feeling stable I will take another class with you. Please tell anyone who wants to know more about it that they are free to write to me. fondly, Devra
