Worth noting that there is a mistle to the left past the 'special vestige', if you use the special vestige you will be taken into your own memory away from the rest of this level, grab the mistle first so you can return later.

Hitting him works well, beat him the 2nd time I faced him with Queenslayer Greatsword. Having to beat 4 Amoured Female Lost on the way to this boss is annoying though.

Beat him at level 38 after a few tries. Used Giant Drinks and Strength drinks with other buffs on Knight with Excalibur.

If you can succeed in casting silence on Chaos, you should have a better chance of defeating him as it nullifies his ability to cast spells.

I honestly can’t believe you survived that lol I’ve been watching vids on this boss because I can’t beat him at the moment. My characters are mid 30s but it seems everyone is using a monk and red mage. You’d have killed him quicker if you used protect all and the giants gloves btw

It's possible to beat Chaos on lower levels. My party was at 29 when I faced him. A knight, ninja, black wizard and white wizard. Probably considered by most to be non-ideal. Check your equipment, see if you have any flame or ice resistant armor, shields, helms, etc. If you have protera, use it. If you wish to cast nullspells, do them on party members before equipping ribbons. You can change equipment in battle. Make sure to cast Healaga, every turn, regardless of whether your party is at full health or not. I guarantee you, Chaos will always go first. Keep a party member feeding your healer ethers. Use elixirs, even at full health. Utilize equipment abilites such as saber. Defend. Cast buffs like temper and haste on your attacker. You'll he happy you did. Did you acquire both masamune and excalibur? Did you beat him by now?

@Alal47428 Same. Thief was a mistake for me to choose. Probably the worst job in this game. I beat Chaos, but yeah, it took a couple tries. Some of it was just praying to the RNG that Chaos doesn't pull out some devastating attack.

@charleschudley4661 my thief was a huge help. Or ninja was. I was level 64 and just kept casting temper with Ninja onto my knight. Who was hitting for 3k without Excalibur because I forgot to forge it and forgot to buy exit so I couldn't go back.

I come back here every now and again, just to remind myself of something: Squall is a loner, that simple fact never changes. He constantly isolates himself, prefers to handle things his own way. He can work well in a team, but feels confined if he can't roam somewhat freely. But, at least by this point in his timeline, he's not 'lonely'. He trusts his teammates to have his back, knows they're there fighting even if they're out of sight. He trusts others, and knows they can trust him. That trust isn't in contrast to his nature as a loner, it emboldens it. When you understand to your very core that you're not alone, that there are people worth having in your life who also want you in theirs, you don't have to see them all the time to remember it. As an introvert, this was a huge lesson for me to learn: this simple fighting game and FF8 put me on the path to really understanding it, and I'll always be grateful.
