Why didn’t you use a better spec on the 2013? 4 core vs 6 vs 16 on a multi thread shootout or am I missing something? Admittedly M1/2 more relevant today. But these insights still have some uses. My heavily specked 2013 cost well under half of the cost of the mini and seems to be performing well at present (touch wood). Seem to have more issues with read write speed on external drives but most of the time is fine. High track count, good few modern plugins. Soft synths not so used so much. But it still is performing well.

What an amazing design of the physical configuration of the workspace. The engineer is where he can benefit, and the composer is in an amazing spot in close proximity to all of the gear that he needs to access. Hard to believe that such a small room had that solution ready to be exploited all along. It's often really hard to go back to the drawing board on something that you know needs improvement when you are already working around the limitations and still being productive. It's in some ways the same phenomenon that happens when you have a piece of music that you like but also want to evolve further. What can happen is that you become afraid of doing anything to it for fear of ruining what you already have. Then when you plow forward and it takes a quantum leap, it's only then that you realize that what you ended up with is so much better than what you were willing to accept as "good enough".

One of my favorite composers; didn’t realize he had the extensive synth collection. Don’t have Netflix; must check out The Last Kingdom score now. Great video, Yellow Technology!!
