I was not aware that Alderville was known as The Green Mile. They certainly do have a lot of dispensaries there, so it makes sense. We have been visiting for years and have always found the people of Alderville First Nation to be open,friendly, and kind.

More fun to take the old 17 route through Kenora, versus 17A. Kenora is an interesting town, with some amazing scenery near the lake.

My mom was born in Hafford in 1919 and I finally made the 5 hr drive to come and check it out I talked to a few people there, did some shopping at Hafford Fine Foods and checked out the centennial monument. I enjoyed my visit. I just needed to walk down Main Street thinking my mom probably walked down this same street a hundred years ago.

The grain silos on the waterfront, are NOT abandoned. It is a functioning flour mill. Ships come in all the time to drop off grain, and have been for decades.

I wonder why Algonquin Provincial Park isn't mentioned on the exit sign for Highway 60
@CanaRoads3 ай бұрын
I think on the main highway signage they tend to use control cities rather than parks as much of a destination as Algonquin is but I think there are other signs along Highway 11 informing drivers that the next exit is for Algonquin Park

Thank you for your informative and fascinating video. It appears the video is speeded up. I wonder what was your average speed and I also wonder in which month you did this drive.
@CanaRoads5 ай бұрын
Yes the video is sped up. I am not sure what the average speed was but I would guess around 90 km/h because of the winding road and elevation changes. I filmed this video back in early June 2018

It's my hometown and surrounding area is my home moved to Ottawa tho, and things are changing there too fast and not in good ways. There's is much potential and so much beauty there but not alot of jobs and more crime is happening there along with drugs and they have had their share of bad things. They need more for the community there and more for kids to do in healthy ways. They really need help and assistance with many things, especially with mental health and homelessness as there's no shelters there except for a hosh house for women. The town from what I know is struggling with many things, I wish it was the way it was back then where kids could be kids and play outside but they can't anymore. It's become a bit dangerous 😢 I miss home sometimes now and again but many people can't go back because they lack in housing also and low-income housing as well.
