An absolute genius, I wish I was older so I could have been part of this era of real comedy. Love Spike.

The difference between being a genius and being mad is a very fine line! In Spikes case he blended the two perfectly. We miss your mad humour in this humourless world.

Way ahead of his time this guy. The fact he could deliver jokes on the spot and knock almost all of them out of the park was next to genius. Even the edgy ones.

Am I the only Englishman who doesn't find Spike Milligan funny? I suspect not. I also don't get JRR Tolkein and all that Lord of the Rings stuff. Utter nonsense. There, I've said it. Got that off my chest. I've also got reservations about Monty Python, most of which was crap, but Life of Brian was the high point. That's also now off my chest. Don't get me started on Peter Sellers, he was desperately un-funny. At least Harry Secombe could sing a decent tune! I liked Michael Bentine's Potty Time when I was young in the Seventies, but everyone seems to have forgotten about him. Quite sad really. Anyway, love and peace.

Great to have opinions even if they are utter shite. I do agree with you on Monty Python, though. Almost as overrated as Taylor Swift or JK Rowling.

It was great to see two comedy originals (Spike Milligan and Harry Secome) and the lovely Joanne Lumly who went on to play Patsy in Absolutely Fabulous. Where she showed her talent as an actor, Joanne Lumly is normally well-spoken and well-mannered, transformed herself into the character she played, Patsy in Absolutely Fabulous.

Believe it or not, this was David Walliam’s first appearance on television. Not entirely sure if this was a setup to advance David’s career or a complete coincidence. Either way, I can see how much Spike and The Goon Show influenced Little Britain.

I was brought up in the Red Road flats (where the externals were shot)... and returned to them from London after serving my apprenticeship (ironically enough as a Cameraman), to start my own business. - I well recall the programme going out; the accents were far too 'posh' and far removed! But then that was the BBC for you!
