Hi Brandon. I noticed that when you tied this really cool fly you left off the nylon loop I see in the picture that supports the squirrel tail. Which way do you prefer - with or w/o support loop?
@MoonlitFlyFishingАй бұрын
I must have photographed the one I was playing around with that technique. I haven't tested the comparison yet. My guess is it really isn't going to make a big difference in catching fish. It definitely takes longer to tie with the nylon loop for the support of the tail.

What is the length of the shaft? Is it 5" ? Looks short !
@MoonlitFlyFishingАй бұрын
Thank you for your question. The shaft in the video is 5 1/2" but we have since added an additional 1" to all the posts on the vises shipping out now. They are 6 1/2" long posts on all the vises we have now and shipping out. Thank you for your interest and we hope to work to earn the chance to serve you.

thank you for updating a tying video for the Chaos Hopper. Great job tying and explaining. I have used this hopper pattern extensively on small streams. I do have problems with the foam twisting on the hook so I have resorted to adding superglue to the finished fly along the hook under the foam. Also in the original tying videos, (10-12 years ago), it was reported that pink foam was very effective. I have found that though pink does not seem very "natural", it is very effective color for small hoppers?!
@MoonlitFlyFishing2 ай бұрын
John, this is a very effective pattern for sure. I love how versatile it is in various sizes and colors. Thank you for your support and time.

Will the big hogg 9-10 wt work okay for big flies on a 8wt? Or even medium carp flies?

The Big Hog will work great for big dry flies and nymphs. For streamers, I would move to the HOGzilla Leader.
