Beautiful track. A lot of fun to play over. One correction though. That C/B is C/Bb on the track.

don't you mean G MINOR?

Both G minor and D minor keys contain Gm and Dm chords. So you can really choose whether to play G dorian (D aeolian) or G aeolian (D phrygian) over this track, or use them both for different colours.

Honestly Pat; I'm constantly repeating myself on your awesome channel. Total respect, admiration and a touch of envy over your compositions. So, so much here to admire relative to the work shared by others. Firstly, time signatures: with your 7/4 we immediately get deep into the pocket--refreshing in comparison with alternatives. Next, chord choices: you give everyone room with these suspended voicings to experiment, e.g., harmonizing with 6ths. Lovely. Lastly, at the risk of going on and on; 5★ for your synth pads which--among many benefits--voice lead to upcoming sections. Man; thank-you and please carry on! Hoping for 100,000 subs here in 2025!

Nice groove my friend but I. Regret 2 have 2 mention the audio fidelity is clearly not digitally formatted or really. Even lined in audio input properly pretty jangly scrubbiness which is lamentable but I do think it is a quality. Groove but honesty I thought for half a second I had the playback speed toggled off the normal level. Bcuz the audio always gets that scrubbiness I mean do what you feel but if you want to hear it u should never short change your self ever even if you are not 100%. Pleased with it yourself As we are all are worst critic So. This isn't about giving you. Hard time. But. Framing your work should always be the best.fidelity u can muster And if you can make a song like this that you can manage to scrap up some digital formatting stuff of some kind either software or hardware or whatever or borrow it or something you know what I mean like there's a lot of there's a lot of stuff out there for. Not much $ but still crystal clear and would be nice for your music 😊

Every G# here should be Ab, and every D# Eb. Some of these chords would never be seen written like this, I'm sorry. A rule of thumb would be to never have both flats and sharps in one key. (although there are some rare exceptions to that when going to other harmonic or melodic minor modes) Another thing would be to not have 2 notes for a note in a scale, looking at G and G# here, as well as D and D#. It doesn't make sense, that we have 2 for G (G+G#) but none for A? (G# is Ab when in Cm or any key that has flats) Also no note for E, but in fact Cminor is the same as Eb major, so it's a bit wonky not to have Eb in the scale. What I'm saying might be confusing right now, but it's worth the while to internalise, since it honestly makes it a lot easier to understand and read 😊

GRRRRR.. there's no G# or D# in the Key of C minor ====== C minor scale : IS " C D Eb F G Ab Bb C"..... not C D D# F G G# Bb C... really big pet peeve when someone does this, misspell a scale.... you can never master music theory when you incorrectly spell a chord or a scale.. then it's only IMITATION, not really learning music... So Sorry, Pat, this is not very smart.. your jam tracks are great.. I love them.. I always have to rescore your chord charts when this happens.. :) cheers..

What's the rules for knowing how to refer to a note as # or b (flat) for a certain key? For example, in Bb major, we have Bb, C, D, ?. Is the the 4th note of Bb major referred to as D# or Eb? I think it's Eb - but I admit that I don't know why 🙂- even after all these years (I'm 54!).

Just use the same kind of accidentals that the key already has, that helps keep things straight. Sometimes, like when a chord is a sub, there can be a difference in usage, otherwise just expand on the existing key.@NotMarkKnopfler

I'm really curious.. why does it say 120 BPM, when the feel is really 60 BPM.. Do they count beats differently in the EU? hehe.. just kidding.. I found this alot in your jam tracks (btw.. you have the absolute best jam tracks on here.. like to see much more modulations, modal exchanges; forces the brain to switch tonic centers really fast and a way to employ modes of harmonic and melodic minor.. thanks Pat.. my playing has increased because of your jam tracks.. you rock.. !!!
