John Flaherty on the YES Post-game show said that Soto's swing imparts a lot of underspin on fly balls, and that helped this one carry over the fence.

Soto is the master of the mind game. Not enough attention has been paid to how he and Stanton have baited pitchers into throwing them a ball they can take yard. Sometimes when you see them swing out if the zone is to make the pitcher think chase and it works a lot of the time causing (in Stantons case) to run up the ball count so he has to throw in, and (Soto’s case) foul off all the off-speed pitches forcing a fast ball. These guys are so good at it.

I think he legit might have made an extra 50mil with this one swing of the bat

That is a tiny strike zone. The highest part of zone should be in the middle of belt and armpit. Why is the zone so tiny?
@owenfawcett5036

Its because the strikezone is measured based on his batting stance so by squatting down a bit you can compress it

I never played baseball, it’s so interesting to see what goes into pitch choices and what the batter is trying to do. Great video!

If he was thrown out at 3rd then how is that 6-6?

Counts as a double I think. Baseball stats are weird

It gets scored a double because he reached 2nd base safely, then was thrown out trying to advance to 3rd

@@pitchiq That makes no sense. A hit is counted as a 1, an out as a 0. He was thrown out running so it's a 0 (out). Is this some new rule in baseball?

@@pitchiq That rule talks about Batter or Runner Interference. I saw no such thing in Ohtani's attempted triple.
