I am trying to start composing short simple pieces for keyboard, and this inspired me to write my own andante, I am getting frustrated with my lack of experience ane knowlegde in harmony but I am trying
@GuglielmoEsposito8 ай бұрын
You should start by reading a few books about partimento. Robert Gjerdingen "music in the galant style" would be a great start, and on KZbin, if you type his name, you'll find several videos he made where he illustrates some of the techniques presented in his books. John A. Rice has lots of papers on academia.edu on the subject of schemata and partimento. Another good book is "harmony, counterpoint, partimento" by Job Ijzerman, Giorgio Sanguinetti "the art of partimento" and anything else he wrote, and there are a few youtubers that publish instructive videos on partimento like @en-blanc-et-noir, but as long as you search for partimento, you'll find lots of content that will help you understand how this music is structured. One other important suggestion is to make copies. Pick a few pieces that you like and start copying them on either paper or in a music notation software. Start also selecting small passages from these pieces to learn them and check if a similar passage is present in other compositions of either the same author or different ones. Gradually, you notice they used common patterns and "phrases", they shared material as in a common language, and this will take you back to the partimento theory, which is based on variations upon a standard shared pattern (also useful for improvisation).

Hi. I try to contact Bolder Sounds to buy this plugin, but I never have an answer. Are you still using this plugin? Did you find any plugin better than this? Is there a chance I can buy it from you? thank you
@GuglielmoEsposito5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I am still using this plug in and several others too, some are expensive to buy and two others no more purchasable. You can check edition beurmann at www.realsamples.de/epages/17831984.mobile/en_US/?ViewObjectID=42879471 and they have a wide selection of historical pianos and harpsichords, but as I said, they're expensive. Then there are two other pianos I use which you can't buy anymore and they were made by post musical instruments owned by sampletekk. The only instrument they have is a nice harpsichord. They had a very good fortepiano for $25 but they don't sell it anymore. Maybe you could contact them and ask if they could still send it to you, but I doubt they will. The other one was made still by post musical instruments and was part of a collection of other instruments shop-vst.com/2100 More than this I can't help you... Though I still don't understand why you did contact bolder sounds and not just bought the instrument from the page itself. The process is very simple and straightforward, the only thing to pay attention to is that you should buy the one sold for around $20 because it is the most complete one.

This is a really impressive symphony! How did you learn to orchestrate like this?
@GuglielmoEsposito8 жыл бұрын
Well, it is simple and complicated at the same time. The main thing is, you learn by doing and observing. So I studied a lot of composers and how they did achieve certain effects through the use of certain mixtures of instruments, and learning patterns and systems you start achieving what you want. Of course it takes time and practice.

this song by Mozart not Bach
@jpuelopezify8 жыл бұрын
This 'song' (I'd call it 'piece') is neither by Johann Christoph Bach (not Johann Sebastian Bach, whom you seem to mistake him with) nor by Mozart. It's a popular song for which both composers made their own set of variations. This one was composed by Johann Christoph Bach (a son of Johann Sebastian's), and is very different from the one composed by Mozart.
@clivegoodman167 жыл бұрын
amy rose gamer. Both Mozart and this composer who is a son of JS Bach, composed a set of variations to the same theme. However the variations are quite different.
@Alix777.6 жыл бұрын
The original piece was probably written around 1740, it's a french "bergerie", a country song. The author is unknown. Franz Liszt and Erwin Schulhoff also wrote variations on this charming theme.

Hello! I was just curious, what are your favorite harmonic progressions? Mine are descending fifths and the progression in the beginning of the developement of Mozart's K. 310 & in Haydn's 44th symphony. (which I have not found a name for). Also, I thoroughly enjoyed this entire piece! It has to be one of my favorite of your early pieces! :)
@GuglielmoEsposito9 жыл бұрын
+John Kiunke Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for passages and progressions, there's a commonly used passage in 18th century music, that I refer to it as recitato. You can find it in many composition of many composers of the time, like Kozeluch, Dussek, Paisiello, etc. The example I can give you, so you understand quickly it is found in the second movement of Mozart sonata k 311, from bar 16 to 24. I like that kind of schema and progression and it is found, in different variation in many works of anyone in the 18th century. So it was a very versatile musical moment that you had to know in order to fit in the composers club.

Guglielmo Esposito Yeah, I have an old neupert clavichord, I'll post some of my pieces soon. I have an account on young composers as well. (JohnKiunke) I'm working on my second of 3 sonatas for keyboard & (optional) violin as my opus 1.
@GuglielmoEsposito9 жыл бұрын
John Kiunke Oh that's nice that you do that. I also have an account on YC (punkitititi). I've been a member there for such a long time, even though I'm not posting much anymore. A book that would help you out in absorbing all the inflections of this language is one written by Robert Gjerdingen "Music in the Galant style", I discovered this author and that book last year. It was a great surprise because all of what he talks about I have studied it thoroughly in the past 15 years, listening to countless of composers and countless of works by each of them. So seeing most of it put together in a book is refreshing. You should check it out. There is some preview available on google books, so you can get an idea. I think it is a good starting point for you. Check it out and let me know!
@johnkiunke56179 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing this is modeled after the Menuett in A Major from Nannerl's Notenbuch?
@GuglielmoEsposito9 жыл бұрын
+John Kiunke You're right on your guess. Then I saw the same patterns and progressions not only in that set of music but also elsewhere in pieces of other composers. In fact at the time I was convinced that they copied from each other, then I realized it was just a way of respecting a common language and those inflections and progressions, number of bars etc, is just a common feature of that kind of music.
