I did the same thing over 33 years ago, and my family was mixed about it. Thankfully, my mother, father and a very dear nun, Sr. Mary Joel, (at that time, and she was tonsured and given the Great Schema and elevated to M. Seraphima). My God Parents are John and Catherine, (Cookie) Poulakis. I think my sister was there, but her husband wasn't for it. Maggie is her name. It was the best decision I've ever made, and many other important decisions would follow. Glory to God! It was the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit along with the Ever-Virgin Mary, the Theotokos, who truly prayed for me, and I was given the new name Anna. What made it so special was that I gave three names to Fr. Homer Goumenis, and asked him to choose the name he was given by The Holy Trinity. I couldn't choose one for myself, because I had to trust that Christ would know much better than I would. Those names were Ellene, Maria and Anna. I will never forget how it felt when Fr. Homer called my name for the first time. I'd already been baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity as an infant in the Episcopal Church not just once, but twice! The first time was shortly after I was born, because I was premature, and they wanted to make sure I was protected by my guardian Angel if I left this world before I could leave the hospital. Thankfully, after spending 4-1/2 months in the NICU, I finally came home, and later, I was baptized. The Episcopal Priest who performed the Aerobaptism at the hospital thoroughly drenched me three times, because he knew that, to the glory of God, I'd survived those 4-1/2 months of incredible ups and downs. (Since they sprinkle infants in the Episcopal church, the Priest just knew for some reason that I needed it.) Incidentally, I begged Fr. Homer to baptize me by triple immersion, but he and Bp John of Atlanta said that I'd already been baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity and that this was in agreement with the Nicene Creed. I hope I can go to Gerusalem and be baptized in the River Jordan, but I must let God's will be done. How is your journey going? I'd really like to know. Another tip: When you pray the Lord's Prayer, be sure to include the word "Let" where it says "Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done..." this is how Fr.
