The subway stations should be just a few minutes walk away. As far as safety, the street that the hotel is on is very dark and didn't really have anyone else walking around and felt creepy. The surrounding streets had a few more people. I'd say it wouldn't hurt to uber back once it gets dark just to be extra safe!

We rented at the resort when we got there. You're in for a treat with the crab soup! Have a great trip!

There were occasional shows and events but they weren't every night like you would find at some other resorts. They are pretty good abt having a schedule for the week up at the desk, but there is a chance you would need to take 10 min taxi ride to the "downtown" area to have that available every night.

You can either rent a car for the day at the cruise ship port or our hotel had car rentals. Both options would need to be reserved in advance most likely. If you just want to take a taxi from your hotel downtown that's very easy also. If all you're doing is going downtown a taxi would probably be enough.

Miami Vice and Superman were really good. Some other good ones were Dirty Banana, Melon Ball, and Mango Tango. You also can never go wrong with a classic Pina Colada!

We definitely left the resort and highly advise doing so as well... We think the freedom the island offers to do that and go around to different beach bars and stuff is a big pro to visiting Cozumel! We talked abt jeep rentals in part 2 of this video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/l57KmHR4i9N8nbc but in short, getting a rental is pretty easy, you can do it at resort or go into town and get one. Taxi's are also easily accessible, just tell the guys at the front lobby and they will call you one. There is also a depot at the main cruise port which is halfway between where the resort is and downtown.

I'm sure it changes constantly but when we went it averaged out abt $25-30/a night for fees. May not be exact but that's been the trend for us there. Sorry we haven't came in from Newark to there so don't have a good answer for you there... hope you have fun on your trip!

We would tip the bartender and maybe if someone helped us with bags or something, but there weren't many opportunities to tip based on the way everything is setup. Just be sure to bring small bills, they are always helpful when trying to tip.

We did! We went twice and enjoyed it both times. It's not a very rowdy resort so take that into consideration depending on what kind of vacation you're looking for.

I would say that March is a great time to go in terms of temps. Only thing that we would advise is that if you are flying into Cancun, to try and arrive earlier in the day and leave later in the day because you will have to catch the ferry to get to the island and that can eat up some of your time if you are not careful. The other option would be to fly straight to Cozumel but that's typically a little more expensive... In terms of drinks, a Melon Ball or a Mango Tango are two good options. You can also never go wrong with a Piña Colada or Daquiri!!! Hope you have a great trip and if you have any more questions just ask!
