This example makes me feel that behind the words YOU IDIOT and GO BEN is just the SAME ENERGIE chosen to be negative or positive directed.

Halfway in and still waiting for anything we all don't know. Done waiting. Yikes.

Thanks for sharing that! I just started reading your book and loving it after a similarly painful long phase of hiding, anxiety and more and gradually ‘waking up’ right now, so I loved a practical example and insight, I think it makes it even more graspable than can be described by the written word :)

@@EugenieMacGillavry I think they're asking whether the client is an actor, since in the description it says "client" in quotes like that :)

It makes sense what you've described. However, one of the most challenging aspects to recognize is how implicit memory can override conscious, or explicit, memory, thereby influencing our thought processes. I've noticed that I sometimes unconsciously project a monotonous narrative, which is influenced by my family history and learned behaviors. This often includes dwelling on past traumas that affect my day-to-day life, usually without my full awareness. I believe more research is needed to explore how implicit and explicit memories interact in our everyday interactions. A key factor to consider is how to identify the influence of implicit memory on our behavior. Most of the time, we're not fully aware of how our implicit memories and actions are connected. I wonder if there are any specific methods to examine implicit actions. I find that approaches like those of Byron Katie, where you delve into the language used and investigate the historical memory lineage constructed in your brain, touch on some of these issues then to look at How the behaviour attached to that manifests into your day today

How can people with borderline personality disorder ever feel good with that name as their diagnosis? Its like being labelled hopeless case. They need to change that because the internal idea that one feels or is broken is bad enough but to have he rest of society brand you is like putting heat on a burn wound.

This reminds me of what DBT creator (who actually has BPD mind you) Marsha Linehan argues for a different label as well - I believe she argues for a shift to Emotional Dysregulation, which is what BPD essentially is.

There are many who want to change the label “BPD” to impulse control disorder.

It might be helpful to realise that we HAVE a diagnosis but we ARE not our diagnosis. To let go of holding on that rope and just look at it as a guideline might help. What we believe ourselves to be, is true until we believe that no more.

This is a wonderful exercise! I use I’m a loser. I replaced it with I am worthy! Repeating like a mantra. My therapist told me about you and ACT. I bought the book. Watching you is my beginning. I also keep in mind the rope exercise. I enivision the rope and say softly to myself let go of the rope. Practice, practice. Thank you for allowing me to visit your site and learn and reprogram! ❤

The self-as-process, and examples of questions you've asked in some of your videos related to self-as-context stuff, reminds me a lot of existential therapy based interventions. Great stuff :)

This was interesting to see - the hexaflex at work 👍 One thought I had, when I read the description was that this was ACT for trauma and trauma seems like a bit of a buzzword nowadays. I think this conversation is just good act therapy - trauma or not 🤸

Could be applied to the OCD. Dropping the rope, dropping the compulsions, becoming free, letting the thoughts pass. Putting ourselves into uncomfortable situation with uncertainty and no control. Just jump. Thank you so much Dr. Hayes.
