That was an awesome run, but I just wanna throw out some appreciation for making these videos. I've just done a lance playthrough from scratch and the only monster I haven't killed is Fatalis and I've been dreading trying to solo it. But this video taught me so much on how to work around his attacks. Absolute legend mate. ❤

lance main here. this is so freaking clean, i can't believe it. just like all your other runs though, haha. the timing and positioning on everything is out of this world. i've just started trying to solo this, and the sticky ground thing is the bane of my existence right now.

I think Lance Is the closest thing mh has to a brawler kind of class. Let the monster come to you, tank its every move, throw it right back in it's face. No dodging for fancy attacks. I've been loving Lance ever since I started over on PC.

This run is so incredibly good, i've been trying to learn stuff to do. I can now do the clutch counter on the shotgun blast -> swoop thing, which is very cool. The other thing I notice is these head punishes are just unreal. i'm looking at 1:34, 2:15, 2:24 and how you turn 180 off of a power guard to hit the head. but your power guard happens so fast. i feel like no matter how hard i try, my animation for counter -> power guard feels slower. is there some trick here? is this a pc vs console thing?

This run is so sick and clean. I've been trying (and struggling) to solo this fight at all with lance. The two things that keep getting me are grabs and the three prong lightning attack on the ground. I see you are sometimes able to hop out of the way like at 3:35, but I can't replicate that. Either I can't hop far enough fast enough or there's some initial damage when he first strikes the ground that hits me. Is there something I'm missing, or are you just nailing the s on that?

This is the cleanest fatalis run of lance I ever saw. Love your reflexes man. So smooth. I wish I could play lance this GOOD!

You have to be close to the chest. The wind from Fatalis' attack resets your guard and you are able to counter claw. It's tight but can be done very consistently once you get the hang of it. - From another comment

Hops have some s, so I was invincible while the grab hitbox was active. I was also lucky that I was pretty far away -- usually if he's close enough to jump through you, you're not dodging it.

I know the video title mentions TA, but it should be said that the block is modded. Most of F Rajang's attacks would cause the player to slide back. Doesn't matter if guard skill is max.

Except for the fact that they are perfect guards with the dodge guard and you can see the character slide back when normal guards are used. Perfect dodge guard is op but hard to time. No mods for the shield here 😂

At 2:40 you can see the dodge guard has the knock back because that attack is too powerful but from there the hunter goes into full guard to counter strike it’s not mods it’s lance 😂

On a Playstation controller, if you hold L2 and press R3, you'll switch to the claw and can shoot it with Circle. It's the same button placements on Xbox. I'm not sure what it would be on mouse and keyboard.

I know this is way old, but do you remember the layered weapon setting you're using here? Looks super tight, but I don't see it on my list of available options, and I thought I had everything unlocked. Awesome fight btw.

Yeah, the layering is actually a mod. I don't remember exactly which one it is, but it's one of CUREDOSIN's mods on Nexusmods.

Ah that's a bummer. I'm on playstation so no mod luck for me. I dig that the small shield and thin lance actually make it seem realistic, instead of some giant hunk of metal that no one could actually lift with one hand. Oh well, thanks for the reply!

Yep i just realized that. I didnt know wetfish fin+ is actually speed sharpening level 3😂🤣 so what u do is you go fishing with the capture net not the fishing pole, capture net is way faster and u stock up on these then throw it in your item pouch then insyead of using traditional sharpening method u just used the item and boom one stroke anytjing u using is sharpened😂🤣

Liked and subscribed! I wish more people would upload videos where they would beat monsters with not-so-late-game gears. Everyone is so obsessed with these speedruns. Personally, I would try to look for videos more like "tutorials" on how to beat specific monsters. Kinda like how in Dark Souls, I would search for SL1 boss fights for me to get what should one do when fighting specific bosses. Speedruns for me aren't helping that much and not that cool for me.

Great run dude. at 1:39 how did u guard and counter claw right away ? every time i tried i always was pushed back really hard so counter claw motion was impossible

@@doom8274 I think you’re confused between “ TAS “ or Tool assisted speedrun with “ TA “ or Time attack which is another Speedrun category for MHW with more restrictions, basically it’s you vs monster, no outside influence nor environmental resources like palicoes, mantle, slinger ammo, wallbangs etc. (though some resources are allowed, you really have to read the rules.)

Man I can’t figure out how to quickly do the clutch counter as fast as you, seems the fastest way is to do the “cancel block” and then aim the claw. I caught fati’s head a few times when he flies up after the blast but It just doesn’t seem as fast as yours, when you do it there is no wind up animation, you just get right into it. Is there a shortcut to do it right after blocking? Or are you just ridiculously fast? Help me out man.

@@madscientist3800 oh i practiced and nailed it, the trick is when to block, turns out theres a sweet spot for blocking that minimizes knockback regardless of guard skill. Cuz sometimes i get knocked hard and sometimes not, same block same attack.

@@HaythamAlshamlanMight be too late but you still get knocked back by the fire breath but if you are near enough you would get hit by wind when he flies which would cancel the knockback.

@ makes total sense, positioning and timing, and a little bit of luck i guess. Never too late to improve my game man, I’m still very active 3k hours into the game.
