What sucks is arrowhead is a natural lake… And they made it a private lake so others can’t enjoy.

right?! people are always surprised to learn that. We chose an airbnb for this trip specifically because we could access the lake... a bit of a shame. Thanks for watching!

Aaagggreeed. I've even had an Airbnb and they didn't give us access to the lake. It was quite a bummer. So we acted like we were staying at the hotel.

This was very helpful! I've stayed at New Shady Rest twice and just reserved a site at Old Shady Rest for October. I love the location because it's in Mammoth but close enough to jump back on the highway to go to Rock Creek or the Hot Springs.

Thank for these views and hiking advice + the Trail Map. I have never been here, and planning to go soon! This helps a lot. I only have 3 days, so this will save me from wrong ways! God bless you, and great video! Just wondering about the horses, do they have trail rides, I am guessing yes?

Not having a fire is not a miss. 14 people were killed and over 2000 homes were lost in a forest fire many years ago surrounding Lake Cuyamaca, all started from a campfire. The forest and the wild life are still rebuilding because of the tragic fire....
@BeautyisWiild27 күн бұрын
Completely agree with the fire restrictions. My comment is about MY preferences only. Camping without a bonfire isn't the same experience for me - there are other campgrounds around the area that I prefer for this reason.

Better than upper pines campground?

not entirely sure, but it's easier to get a site here and next to the river.

yes, depending on what you explore it could be +- a margin of error, but I account for complete hikes.

Be ready for the daytrippers trying to see how fast they can make it up the mountain. They’ll either tailgate you or pass you no matter how fast you’re going. Just pull over and let ‘em pass. There’s a ceremonial cacao place up there I just discovered . 💪

Just stumbled upon your channel, great concept and very informative! Btw, what are the chance of getting a walk-in spot for any of these fully booked campgrounds, especially for Lake Mary and Pineknot? It's just ridiculously impossible to get a site anywhere, and I wouldn't be comfortable dragging the whole family plus dog just to be out of luck anywhere without booking. Thanks and keep up a good work!
@BeautyisWiildАй бұрын
Thank you! I want families to enjoy the outdoors more and I hope these types of videos provide information they need before heading out. It is very difficult. I refresh the site everyday waiting for a spot to open up. I would say you are probably going to find something Monday-Thursday, but not on the weekend. The other idea is to book something in bishop if you can as a backup. Best of luck and happy camping!

Thank you for this. I am heading out next week. Are there many turns that are without guardrails that over look the water? That is my biggest fear. How would I know I am traveling the typical route verses the reverse route?
@BeautyisWiildАй бұрын
Not next to the water. The concern is more about the one lane bridges. Here is the info you need on traveling there: Starting Point: Kahului: This is the main commercial hub of Maui and the location of the island’s primary airport, Kahului Airport (OGG). The Road to Hana begins as you leave Kahului on State Highway 36, also known as Hana Highway. Ending Point: Hana: The road officially ends in the small, peaceful town of Hana on Maui's eastern coast. Hana is known for its natural beauty, including waterfalls, beaches, and tropical rainforest. Many people continue driving past Hana to visit attractions like the Pools of Ohe'o (also known as the Seven Sacred Pools) and the Kipahulu section of Haleakalā National Park. The road technically continues beyond Hana, but it becomes more rugged and less traveled (I don't recommend this side).

One of the WORST roads I have ever driven. I would NEVER drive that road again. Way too many turns and one lane bridges. And you don't see the ocean that much on the drive. One and done Kauai has better drives as does Oahu.
