Can someone please answer a question I have ? Why can I see many you tube channels where the person plays records ,,such as the “ first time hearing responses” , or even audio channels where there is music played ,sometimes restricted to time sections of sound etc . and there sr em any many others . Why though ,do I see critics reviewing a cartridge , with a stylus on the record ,the record turning amd yet they never play the music ? Why do some play it , some won’t ? I ask because it’s incredible frustrating to not be able to hear the thing and to have to listen to a verbal summation by a critic instead .for Chanel’s dedicated to audio excellence it’s a bit of an ironic thing when there is no audio, but sometimes if it’s not an audio channel ,there is audio ! What’s going on , because it’s surreal ? I’m just as well reading a textual review without the frustration and feeling there’s something to hide ! Just trying to discover the inconsistencies . Anyone know please ?

I am guessing you meant why do you NOT see many channels playing music through their systems. My reason is that I am trying to avoid copyright violations. When I do play music, I often try and use a local band I have permission from. There are royalty free music tracks from youtube you can use, however that does not help me with playing albums. Maybe I search for some royalty free vinyls. Great questions btw!
@saudade36911 сағат бұрын
@@joeyshifishop thanks for the reply , I realized you are right in that many ways reviewers use only digital sources and so don’t have the limitations of vinyl play for such short segments of music . But how do so many I ve seen play whole tracks before commenting ? I’m not sure they have permission or copyright strikes , but maybe they do ? It seems a but unfair to impose copyright strikes when the purpose and use is to critically inform and not for entertainment alone .its a minefield that seems more relevant for the pre online , pre you tube formats . One would think that some musicians would be happy to having the free exposure and I know I’ve bought many albums solely from hearing them on you tube reviews or showing of someones audio system . Thanks for the reply ,my question wasnt a criticism just an enquiry and I’m appreciate you could see that and give me a full answer . Finding new cartridges can be a nightmare these days when there are so few material shops where one can try them out and online reviews are important for genuine critiques. Cheers !

Hey Joey, first time watching your videos. And I’m a fan already 😁I’ve been itching to get a TT for my hi fi setup. And have narrowed it down to a Rega. But not sure if the P3 with ND5 would be a good enough table in my system? I have the new Naim nait50 integrated amp with built-in phono stage. Speakers are kudos X2 floorstands. At the moment my playback is digital only using a Innuos zen as streamer into an Auralic Vega S1 DAC. - not sure if the P3 would give me similar sound quality or would I need to go up to a P6 or even P8 to get a similar sound. I don’t want to spend too much just to find out Vinyl is not really my thing (and also need money for records😅). But if I go for a table that doesn’t give me similar SQ, I’ll end up never using it.

Re reference mains, do you hear consistent differences after several A/B switches? Ad material says something about RF shielding, but that is utterly pointless in a power (i.e., NOT signal) cable. And power draw is rather limited. The more important question is about leveling the Naia. Third party feet (TNG spinner) cannot be used because the non-leveling feet are glued into the plinth. Checked in my Naia package with Aphelion 2 I got in August. I made a leveling base out of 1.5" oak, shaped like the contour of the Naia. The dust cover is beyond useless, and I put it right back into the shipping box. There is no lateral protection for the stylus. So use acrylic box for as a proper protection. The felt mat is also rather annoying as it frequently sticks to the record. Thinking about replacing it. What do you suggest for phono stage? Currently have an EAT eglow petite but can certainly take an upgrade.

Great idea for the nd7!

Hi Joey nice to see that you`ve managed to get a NAIA in store you must be hitting some good Rega targets,how is the new shop coming on is business good. Tell me is that "side opening" feature on the box only on the NAIA I don`t call my P3 having this? I`m sure I`m not the only subscriber who`ll be looking forward to the next edition of your NAIA content and your views on it,thank you for this man.

It's going well. I can't wait to make more content about the NAIA as I put it through it's paces. The Nd7 is sounding great BTW.

Nice table. Nice unboxing. Felt mat appears to be pinched, a shame at this price level. Does this come with Rega standard top only cover?
@joeyshifishopАй бұрын
@ it comes with the standard cover. The felt was pinched. As a dealer I would have replaced that for the customer right away. It is indeed something that shouldn’t happen at that price label.

Hi Joey, thank you for your video. A question emerge: the Rega Fono (MM) would be a step up for mi Rega Elex R internal phono section?
@joeyshifishop2 ай бұрын
@@amarichalprego great question. The answer is likely yes but a small step up. I would recommend an Aria for a wow factor step up. I have a huge respect for the Fono MM and Fono MC, the Aria is just next level. You can also sometimes find used Aria’s or demo Aria’s online, so keep a look out for those.

So, Joey, going from the Elex-R to the Elicit mk5, what would I get. Much of the same sound signature, but more power, control and digital inputs? The elicit mk5 will be my end game amp, if I take the leap…

How does the exact cartridge compare to the nd5? I have an RP3 with elys cartridge and looking at upgrading cartridge. Thanks
@joeyshifishop2 ай бұрын
@@sonicplayroompiano4302 great question. I would say it sounds different than the Exact and in my opinion both have good merits. What the exact does so well in my opinion is have a wholeness to its tone and presentation that really exudes the PRAT of the cartridge. I would say the Nd5 has these attributes as well but they just sound different. If you could compare them that would be great. I think you would be happy with either cartridge. Sorry I couldn’t give a solid answer towards one or the other. The Nd7 is for sure superior to both but costs more than both.
@sonicplayroompiano43022 ай бұрын
@joeyshifishop thank you for your reply. Do you think the nd7 would be overkill for my RP3 which also has the upgraded tango spinner subplatter? If you were to use a word or two to compare the nd5 and exact cartridges would you say one sounds brighter/darker than the other for e.g.? Thanks again
@joeyshifishop2 ай бұрын
@ the Nd7 would be wonderful on your setup. The Nd5 has a bit more high end than the exact.

Thanks for this informative episode! I wonder if you have compared the Aya to any other non-Rega speakers with PRAT...maybe vintage Linn or something else, for contrast?

@@mutsureibo5615 I have not, but I have some $6,999 ATC 40’s here at the house, I will hook them up and do a comparison and video about it.

@@joeyshifishop Thanks! I really want to know how the Aya cope with big orchestral works, symphonies and the like. Be interesting to hear your views and the ATC 40 contrast.
