@69kpurewaffle the stickers on the keys are there for markers for the very young students. And the other stickers were placed there by my students sneakily. I am afraid of ruining the piano by trying to steam those ones off. I don't let the students touch my grand for this reason.

@@janithw it hasn't been a problem for my students, although, I remind them that I did that so they could see the fingering better, so probably avoid that problem before it starts. My students have used these videos for so long, and maybe I would do it differently if I was to record them all over again now.

@PreludeMusicSchool
@PreludeMusicSchool 9 ай бұрын
I made this for a particular student, who needed it this speed, and felt I would share it in case it would benefit any one else. Hopefully, you can find a version of the accompaniment at the speed you desire it. Generally, the accepted speed for a German minuet around the time of Bach is around 132bpm. Although, it is often performed much faster than this.

Hello Yuwan, for some reason KZbin is not showing my replies to your query. Your bachelor's degree in music may serve as a substitute for DipABRSM. You should be able to enter LRSM directly. If you need help preparing for the exam, please feel free to contact me.

Sorry for one more question: I'm currently having a bachelor's degree in music from a college in USA and graduated with honor, and I had some performance experiences in these years. Do you know whether the chance of getting replacement application approved for LRSM entry would be easy based on my condition? Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for the great video. Could you please talk about when will Grade 8 theory certificate be useful? Does all of these 3 diplomas requires Grade 8 theory or just grade 5? Thank you!
@PreludeMusicSchool

Only the teaching diplomas need grade 8. I think the skills are useful especially for composition and teaching.
@music_theoryhk1784
@music_theoryhk1784 2 жыл бұрын
I am glad you liked my talk! Currently Grade 8 theory is not required for ABRSM performance diplomas. It was a prerequisite for LRSM before 2000. You only need Grade 5 theory for Grade 8 practical, which you need before DipABRSM. I am going to give another talk on ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory in the near future.

Hello, I am preparing Lavignone as well. It is good to listen other people playing it!! One question? The eighth note is not a B flat (you play a B). It sounds much better and the piece is in D minor I think...
@PreludeMusicSchool
@PreludeMusicSchool 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Jaimeovi. With B and B flat it most likely Musica ficta (I don't have a copy of the score in front of me), which means the editor makes guesses as to where the flats occur. This is very common with renaissance music, as the flats weren't always marked. And since the music is modal, it often doesn't have a distinct Harmonic minor sound. If you are doing this as an exam piece, unless the edition is specified, there is the expectation there may be some variety of interpretation of the musica ficta

Is the leap from LRSM to FRSM bigger or smaller than DIPABRSM to LRSM or Grade 8 to DIPABRSM. Ignoring ARSM
@PreludeMusicSchool
@PreludeMusicSchool 3 жыл бұрын
That is a hard question. i think the jump to grade 8 to dipABRSM is huge, due to the addition of the viva voce. But then FRSM is a huge exam, due to the size of the dissertation.
@music_theoryhk1784
@music_theoryhk1784 3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion it is bigger.

But if you do count ARSM. ARSM-First diploma. DIPABRSM-Second Diploma. LRSM-third diploma. FRSM-fourth diploma. You can actually jump but only for ARSM and DIPABRSM. You can jump from Grade 8 to DIPABRSM which is 2 steps. Do you think DIPABRSM is a very prestigous diploma? How big is the leap in difficulty from DIPABRSM to LRSM? I know ARSM is to bridge the gap between Grade 8 and DIPABRSM? Its because i saw the repetoire list for LRSM is significantly harder than the lists than DIPABRSM and ARSM.
@music_theoryhk1784
@music_theoryhk1784 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. No I don't count ARSM - I don't consider it a proper diploma. DipABRSM is a good first diploma that tests a variety of skills. The leap from DipABRSM to LRSM is considerable. I have had multiple viva voce students who passed their DipABRSM recitals with ease but failed their LRSM recitals (some of them failed repeatedly).
@PreludeMusicSchool
@PreludeMusicSchool 3 жыл бұрын
Actually, unlike Music_Theory HK, i count ARSM as the first diploma these days, but it is also an optional one. It was introduced to bridge the gap between grade 8 and dipABRSM, which is quite a large divide. Of course, because the ARSM has no sight reading, viva voce or essay, it is not in the same league as the DipABRSM and above, and in this way i concur with the above comment, that it isn't really an equivalent diploma. I suspect, that it was introduced because a few other boards had introduced diplomas that were without viva voce, and were therefore easier to pass, so it fulfilled a market need.

@@music_theoryhk1784 Thank you for your reply. Is the Leap from LRSM to FRSM very big too? I have heard FRSM is a very rare qualification to be attained.
@music_theoryhk1784
@music_theoryhk1784 3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesrichards1893 Yes it is very big. Last time I read the exam statistics, the passing rate for FRSM was around 50%. Presumably all those 50% who failed had passed the LRSM. And only a small percentage of LRSM holders attempt the FRSM.
