i am an absolute jessie ware fan, her voice is among several that can genuinely make me smile and i feel sensuous upon listening to her trackes. i grew up listening to music my parents loved and stephanie mills is one of the people in that repetoire, i figured she probably would love stephanie given her bvious love of soul and disco. i like this cover, i just wish she dialed back the backing vocals, because theyre too loud compared to her i nthe chorus and that the key had been a bit different because it sounds out of place to my ear, also for as beautifu las her voice is, she needed to add a little more energy to certain connecting lines and the chorus, if she didnt want to use the filling lines in the original song ( what a surprise) ( you opened my eyes) thats ok

It’s funny how the song is in B minor yet the most of the melody especially in the chorus hovers around that major 3rd chord/Dsus4 which is the first chord in the major key
