No. 30 year journeyman carpenter (mostly framing) and contractor. If you're a journeyman carpenter or a structural engineer familiar with residential building, they're called a "conventional ridge" (which before the late 1950s weren't even required) or a "structural ridge". Why do you post this bullshit?

So as an engineer I would love to ask you a question I've dismantled houses that are 300 plus years old the ridge was nothing more then a piece of ledger board made it through the hurricane of 38 in New England had no engineered Lumber that you're talking about way more snow than we've had in New England in the last 30 years not one of them ever ever fell down can you explain that

The 2 main structural elements of a house are substructure and the superstructure, and this includes the foundation, columns, beams, and roofing. The integrity of a structure depends on them.

Lost me right in the beginning, not simply identifying, by showing what a ridge board is and what a ridge beam is. Edit: 5 mins later after looking it up; A ridge board is non structural and apparently acceptable for pitches/slopes greater than 3/12, whereas the Ridge Beam is 'structural' and usually or perhaps typically supported by columns.

What about the two gable ends that also support the ridge beam and roof, where is that ? I’m sorry but structurally this is not correct.

Hey folks carpenter here dont trust companies that make parts. Every stick cut roof should have double 2×12 member to attach rafters to. Or its junk.

But even with the compression roof the gable ends would have braces all along the edge if not for support at least to provide a board to attach the sheathing and thus provide the same load transfer down to the foundation. Right?

@@scenicnomad8744 If you click on the actual technical bulletin in the description, it says "Repair may be installed on either side of TJI Joist". So only one side is necessary.

Can these be used in place of headers? I have a termite eaten 8 1/2' 4 x 12 garage door header that needs to be replaced. The I-beam would allow for insulation.

why aren't LVL, or such, made...hollow? As much as possible, anyway. Without significantly reducing its capacity. Less material...less-weight...less-waste...good for the planet...blah, blah, blah :-) I'm an old framer (aka: designer/builder), who'd appreciates more "lightness" as a spec., too. btw, my all-wood structures have been in 8 hurricanes in S.FL, since H. David, with NO damage. Even those with Trus-Joists ('81) ! )))

You are full of you know what. Any 2nd year carpenter would destroy you in a debate. Your lobbying may get the rules changed so you can force feed more overpriced materials on the unknowing public, but it doesn't change the math or the evidence data. Shame on you.
