Past 30 it’s just about endurance. If I take a break from the gym for awhile and do bodyweight excercises for like 2 months I always come back to the gym weak as shite

I used to be able to do 50 in a row and have been told my form is good but now over 20 starts feeling pretty tough last time I checked . Glad I came across this video randomly, I’m now inspired to try if I can condition myself back up to 50 and beyond .

If you can do more than about 30, maybe 40 of something, it’s not producing a strength or hypertrophy response and it’s only good for endurance. I’d say boxing is one of the only sports that must cheat endurance, for punching, is actually needed. But if you’re not a fighter, don’t do push-ups anymore once they get easy.

In the base I was working out of in the Middle East right before and during covid, if you left your terminal unlocked you were automatically given 20 on the spot. If you left your secret brick out, you got 200 to be completed that day. Most would do little bursts of 20-30 to work it down during the day. There was a guy from Ghana and a guy from Sierra Leone in the office, they’d regularly face off. The hut we were in had this crappy little floor and flexed when the guy from Sierra Leone pumped a few out but when the guy from Ghana took off the whole hut shook. He’d knock about 70 or 80 out in a row. Arms like my legs, real triangular body shape. I left that office in good shape. That, plus 5k runs in 30 degree evening heat toned me right up. I think I still had few hundred left on the board when I flew out! 😂

I am prior Army Grunt. The most I did on a PT test was 85, the most I did in a row was 60. That’s all the way up and down. I’m not saying he can’t, just want to say even 100 straight is being a fucking beast!!

are these push ups with wide elbows (how I learned in school) or the more correct way of elbows closer to your body and lower more forward? When I started doing those, I could do like 1/3 the number of pushups. I've seen others say the same thing...they went from 50 to 15

Truth. And perform them slowly and chest touching the floor. I used to do a 100 push ups with poor form. Now I do 35 to 40 correctly.

I can only do 90 in one sitting and I’m 6’6 245, mma fighter. I also was a D1 QB at Oregon. I rap too and have cooked as chefs apprentice at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant

Bro 800 and higher is hella CAP and u know they wasnt full range of motion u can tell because his chest wasnt even reflecting those numbers and do u know how long that takes to do that amount?, a good 50 a day will do you right

Not to say boxers need to train full ROM push ups, but his push up is 1/3 of full ROM, on a push up bar...still impressive and takes dicipline. The most energy taxing part is the bottom half of the movement...skip that you can tripple your number

At my peak I did 83 pushups non stop. You can totally work out for endurance to reach more but I always got bored after about 35 so I would just do sets of 50. But if you work towards it you can absolutely hit 100+ in one set. You just have to train for that specific purpose.

It's all about height and weight tho. I can do 70 straight full range of motion, fully controlled. I'm 6'3 230. It was someoen in my military training who barely met the height requirement and he could do 85. I was light-years ahead of him in terms of fitness and everyone including him knew but them short arms gave him a major advantage
