The only reason a pro lifer would bring up the point that abortions scar women is if they saw the women as victims and women who get abortion are not victims.
@GaserBeam-hi4ez30 минут бұрын
I think Lila used the argument of abortion leaves all women scarred to be able to personally emotionally reach women who’ve had abortions, make them feel okay in accepting that women feel sad about their abortions and it’s okay to feel guilt and sadness too.
@tyleresmon104133 минут бұрын
Hayden I think the first claim was chosen because it’s unique and not the only claim Lila brings. Your justification for it being “largely irrelevant for pro-life ” includes an argument that every pro-choice person has heard and clearly does not fully resonate with or this debate wouldn’t be ongoing. This claim opens an area of discussion not always visited in abortion conversations and allows Lila to leverage anecdotal, emotional stories from regretful or traumatized women she has talked to through her pro-life organizations. It’s certainly not the strongest argument but I think a warranted addition given these reasons. My 2 cents, thanks for the work you do!

I’ve been thinking about the disconnect between pro-choicers and pro-lifers, and I think pro-choicers are incredibly empathetic to the mother, who they can see. I think we can all understand it too, but we have the capacity to empathize with the unborn baby, which is a lot harder to do because we can’t physically see them and we have no memories of being that small. How can we humanize the unborn in a way that will resonate with them and supersede the empathy they give to the mother?
@lindsayloo504934 минут бұрын
Come to the debate with a tiny little pre-born size, doll wrapped in a blanket and have a tiny little baby bottle to feed it with every once in a while, smile and kiss it every once in a while mid debate. I kid, but your point is valid, sometimes people need to see visually that the pre-born baby is the same baby as the born baby…

@@lindsayloo5049 Which is why ultrasounds can be effective when seen by a mother considering abortion. That doesn’t work a lot of the time though, and doesn’t sway the people who aren’t currently pregnant. It’s pretty difficult to do, especially when our first understanding of life when we’re little is the day we were born, not when we were conceived
@arc485915 минут бұрын
@@cathalhendron3941 I think that’s still difficult to empathize with since no one can remember that period of their lives.

Excited to hear your takes. She tends to lean on emotion and you’re always very fact driven, which tends to win arguments more effectively or at least provoke the other side to thinking rather than becoming unhinged.

Ooooh yes, one of the most well-researched abolitionist debaters on the internet reacting to this video!! Sign me up!! Actually listening to the whole Jubilee video was sooooo maddening though. Every one of them was absolutely destroyed by Lila's facts, they were just too blinded by emotion to see it, or the red flags went up like crazy RIGHT when Lila was in the middle of a particularly good mic drop.

But in reality a large percent of women who have abortions end up with with post partum still and horrible long term mental health. correlation doesnt equal causation but it certainly implies it. thats often in my opinion just said as a way to dismiss a correlation when correlation is a sign of what is the cause.

I think you need to change your tack when asked "how does abortion directly affect you?" - since the question is a red herring. You should reframe the question and throw it back at them. One way you could respond is by asking them in return "how does a born person getting murdered in China directly affect you?". This should highlight the absurdity of their objection.

You can't subtract 9 months to find out conception because not every baby is born exactly 9 months from the day of conception 😭 most people were not born exactly 9 months after conception. A due date is kinda speculation, a good estimate of time frame. I know way more people that were born a few days/month(s) earlier and/or later. The BIRTH day argument is so bad

Okay the debate had a good start, but at the end with the objectivity of God’s morality topic, I think Hayden that you got too anoyed and therefore did not really provide him of a an answer, but in the last 5 minutes you did even though I don’t think it was a correct answer. Anyway with the whole oreo hypothesis if the men wanting to beat you was God, I would question myself if that was really God, and also if I was really thinking straigth, cuz this God would be going against his own word. Therefore I would question that being. Especially if it meant raping someone else. That being would be an imposter, or I could just be crazy. I would love to articulate more but it would be too long. Anyway I like your figth against abortion.

Why would you think it's good to continue to support the violinist but not the push the law for others to do so? It would be analogous to organ donation. Would you be for it (LEGALLY)? If you say it's morally good but not obligatory can't pro-choicers say the same for pregnancy?

When someone says, 'Yes its murder but not for them. It shouldnt be illegal because they dont agree with it.' No. Why do we make laws? Because people need to be prevented from and punished for doing certain things. Jeffery Dahmer didnt do anything wrong *according to him* but he still went to prison. Because your opinion doesnt matter, the truth does.
