After turkey hunting and only hearing a hen I think sitting on some eggs I think I am gonna get this product and try it there’s already a thick place where i believe a lot of deer bed it’s an old pasture that we just let over grow I am gonna plant this on the edge of it have seen tons of grouse I’ve seen turkeys there but I think this would offer a ton to the deer the grouse maybe pheasant and the turkeys hopefully help the poults this year

Mowing a perennial like Hot Chic or Comeback Kid allows it to come back even thicker than before. Doing it to chicory won't hurt it, but it's part of the mix so it happens. I personally used some Hot Chic to full in some spots in my yard and mowed it weekly like my lawn and it didn't hurt it and the rabbits and deer were in it nightly during the summer. Riley

In Ohio, I just picked up my first 3 products today to try next year (Green Machine, Show Stopper, and Comeback Kid). I’m hoping to plant 2 reliable, small (1/4 acre) plots after some preparatory clearing is done in the spring (if USDA grants come through). My 40 acre crop land gets harvested early - usually by the first 2 weeks of bow season - and I would like to draw more deer to stay on the timber portion of the property longer as I am frequently too busy with other property management to get in the stand. I love the container setup for reuse/reseeding.

Depending on how many trees you have, how thick they are, and what kind they are can all determine how much the plot gets covered. With this particular plot over the past couple of years, it has done well for us and hasn't gotten to covered with leaves.

It's hard to say, but the best mixes we've found to plant in regularly damp soil conditions would be Hot Chic, Sugar Momma and Bombshell.

Jeff is the man when it comes to big deer. I have a small logging trail i planted with clover and would like to add something else to make it more attractive to deer. Limited sunlight and I'm competing with tons of corn and bean fields. I was thinking of adding Hot Chic. What would you recommend? Thanks.

I think Hot Chic or Comeback Kid would for sure be the best option based on what you're up against. The ag fields will only be there from June to Nov. Comeback Kid or Hot Chic will be there 12 months of the year 365 days and will regrow. With both of those mixes with a little TLC, you can have them for 2-3 years.

Both did fairly well for a last minute, quick plot. I harvested a nice 8 with a kicker 11 yards from my stand.....and saw 4 more nice bucks that will be better next year, I hope.@domainoutdoor

New to food plots. When you add lime to increase pH, is it possible to put too much down? Whats the best way to add lime? Thanks!

If it is pelletized lime you'll want to put it down before planting and before a rain fall. You could put down so much that it doesn't really help because the PH that you have in the soil is already at a 7 or close to that. If you have a low PH and put A LOT of lime on it, there probably isn't any harm that can be done.

I have never planted a food plot ever always made it a point to hunt around a nice stand of oaks or hickory trees so I decided I might try and plant one. I have no tools and not much cash in all honesty. I’m looking for advice on how I should go about making the ground ready for these seeds. I was thinking just go over it with a garden rake and tear the earth up a little scatter and see what happens but I would someone else’s POV

That is how we plant a lot of our plots to be honest. For sure do a soil test and see what the soil needs. You'll probably need some lime to help the PH and then also some fertilizer to feed the plants. 19-19-19 usually does the trick, but check our planting guides on the side of the jugs to make sure you're using the right fertilizer. The trick to standability is ensuring your seed rate is sound, pH is in a healthy range and providing plenty of nutrients in its first 5’ of growth. We use 19-19-19 to ensure plenty of P and K to build strong roots and stems. It is very durable when it can reach its full potential!

Hey love your stuff. I have about 3 different varieties I’m planting at my new new 40 acre homestead. I have a spot similar to this, would you recommend trying to get a cutting in if at all possible? I could probably get a small mower back in there if you’d recommend it.

If the deer don't keep it mowed for you, you can for sure mow it. We've had people mow it monthly and also some just mow it 2-3 times a year. It just depends on your situation.

Guys Grant Woods is really gaining momentum with his green cover seed and no till process, it’s all makes good sense for the soil and making more of it. What do you guys have similar to the summer realese seed that Greene cover has?

Motherload would be my recommendation for a summer planting, high protein mix similar to the product you mentioned. It’s a fun plan…plant motherload…then transition it to Hall Pass…to offer year round food good for deer and soil health and can start your No till program.

I would recommend Hot Chic in that situation. You'll have a plot for 2-3 years with some general TLC each year. The deer and turkeys will love it.

I put a road through a cedar swamp. Good black soil. Real heavy nutrient rich soil. I was wondering if I could use no BS and hot chick in the early spring. It gets full sun and partially sun in areas.

Hi guys I seen your product at Runnings in Moorhead MN I have some land east of Moorhead MN in lakes country so to speak the land is a 40 acers of mix woods and the soil has a good bit of sand in it what do you recommend for food plot seed? Glad you found us there! Are the areas for plots mostly sun or shaded? And do you happen to know your pH? For spring planting, Hot Chic is good in that type of environment and is a hardy perennial. 2 other awesome mixes for sand are No BS and Illicit!

You can frost seed Hot Chic or Comeback kid anytime the day time temps are above freezing and the night temps are getting just below freezing. All other mixes need to be planted after the soil temps are above 60 degrees.

Guys I’m using glufosinate (generic liberty) bout half the cost of gly. Just need to have sun and heat to make it work. Also marestail and water hemp doesn’t stand a chance.

The lowest. Started with 1 on Scott’s. Small seeds and can always go over twice if needed
