Excellent video. My only complaint if u will is the severe price increases on 2nd and 3rd party websites. I can order a truck directly from first gear for lets say 125 bucks...again example. Then 2 days later i can get on ebay or other dealers websites and see same truck going for 3 to 6 HUNDRED dollars...for what is the reasoning for this... ive been buying and selling dcp trucks for last 15 years and only in the last 2 have prices severely skyrocketed. I went t0 2013 national toy truck show in indy. Dropped a grand and came home with 11 trucks. Now if u go u maybe to touch 4 with same amount of money

The only thing about any colors I submitted is this comment "If it's in our book, you can use it". I've no idea how current their paintbooks or color code books are.

What was the green that you painted on the foam?
@RockinHFarmToysАй бұрын
I painted a brown latex house on the foam and then added the soil to it while wet. I bought the paint for $5 at a hardware store in the mis-tint section. Paint that was not mixed correctly.

Yes. Last time I was that direction the yard looked full. It changed hands last year. The family that owned it sold to another feedlot from Pratt KS as the gossip goes.

Cool build! I like the idea using the feeder house as a "forklift" of sorts, really creative whoever came up with that

That idea is from the 70s/80s when harvesters hauled heads in the back of tandem axle grain trucks.

Does this trick work on dcp trailers as well?
@RockinHFarmToys2 ай бұрын
Yes. However, the trailer paint seems to rub off wherever there are raised points like the sharp points on a grain trailer or rivets on a van trailer.

Run is a manufacturing team, not a DCP or First Gear team. When a specific amount of one item is produced, it is called a run. Like a run of trucks, a run of shirts, a run of golf balls....etc.

Wow...had no idea how expensive this was. Really great video and gives some insights to how it works when dealing with DCP. I've used a 3rd party to get some DCP trucks decaled, it was alot cheaper than going through DCP because there was no minimum order amount. I just wish DCP would make more tractor models other than peterbilt and kenworth. I want a International HX620.
@RockinHFarmToys2 ай бұрын
Yes for small-batch stuff adding your own decorations and or parts is the way to go. For large orders, a commercial option is a good idea.

Nice tip! How exactly does it avoid taking paint off the base layer? Just because you're not using much?
@poke852 ай бұрын
yeah, don't smudge too hard and it won't come off
@RockinHFarmToys2 ай бұрын
My guess is the base coat is applied similarly to spraying a real car maybe? Then the second coat was applied differently. Maybe no hardner perhaps. The base coat can dull a bit.

@@RockinHFarmToyswow that's a cool re-use! I was trying to figure out what to use for cab glass in some 1/16 scale tractor projects, it's probably too thin for that scale . I might just get some clear plexi and shape it a little bit with a heat gun

One question. How would one get the headers in and out of the back of the trucks?
@RockinHFarmToys3 ай бұрын
Harvesters made a tool that mounted on the feeder house to lift one end of the head and the truck would back under it. Then lift the other end and the truck would back under it.
@MidwestFarmToys3 ай бұрын

So im looking into designing some 3d models. Im curious how you think about designing small features. Say for instance that ladder on the back, for scale it would probably end up way to small. How do you gauge the thickness of your small details versus leaving them off entirely before they are to small?
