Titina is phony French. Hynkel's speech is phony German. Titinna's scene is very humorous and brings us hope and happiness. On the contrast Hynkel's speech seems funny, but truth is scarce and despair.

I am 53 yrs old and I deep love of the old silent films from 1896 to 1929. Great films, great movie stars, movies at it's infancy. Where comedies were comedy.

The film quality is so good and I’ve never even heard of this scene. Funny and so well choreographed. Thanks. Watching him turn around 360 degrees in perfect step was cool.

If Chaplin isn't actually playing that violin he's doing a great job of faking it.
