Hi Kelsey, congratulations! Are there any plans to bring shadowdark to other languages?

Using irl animals as a reference is such a cool idea.

Hos does this sound? Herbalism. You collect herbs through your wanderings and thus have a chance to have a herb to help an ally. If you have the Herbalist background, you have advantage on these checks. Herbs can cure sickness and diseases and even stabilize the dying.

I haven't run the game yet and I have cursed scroll #1 and will be increasing class choices as they come out. I know my players will want to multiclass (I was thinking only dual class). My thought was if they wanted a second class was to allow it, but they would still only get talent rolls on levels 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 -- so which class and what level would matter. Is this something you had to tackle in play test and what did you do? Thanks so much -- super excited for this :)

I think I will HB the 3-6 slot as an or/or; "+1 to melee or ranged attacks or damage".

I DM'ed for years using the player's handbook, Monster's manual, DM guide, and a checkerboard, or a small DM screen I got from a starter kit. Oh, and six sets of dice.

If a group is resting in a shattered tower (unsafe location) and the resting time is 8hrs…do they get a random encounters on a 1-3 roll of a 1d6?

If it’s natural sparkling water in that spring is going to smell like rotten eggs and taste a bit like Iron or blood😂. Because it is highly mineralized, usually with sulphur and iron. It takes 2-3 days until the fowl smell goes away.

i`ve watched your campaign notes video and it was very insightful, would love to see your ... "Prep notes" notebook or where you write your adventure prep. For example if you are gonna run a dungeon or a mystery how do those notes look like? Currently I`m using one note but I want to go full pen and paper and wanna see how others organize their adventure prep

So I just started DnD as first time DM and now trying out Shadowdark and holy cow this is so much more approachable it feels like. going to try some solo games and see if my friends want to swap over to shadowdark. Love the rulebook setup and how much info is in there just to get started and rolling dice and tthe solo dark rules really make this fun to try out ourselves.

Picked this up to run in the world of Drakkenheim. To turn this into an awesome Drakkenheim adventure I changed the yellow crystals to purple delerium crystals and filled the crater and tunnels with delerium haze. And gave the shard a few corrupted spells. Done!

I am so excited to try this game with my group. The play style seemed to be too freeform for my taste but after reading through the book and listening to some videos, it all just feels very intuitive and makes me wonder why I felt the 5e structure was “my style”.

I just found this game and am eagerly awaiting the hard cover arrival. I have a core group of players who grew up on the original D&D grey booklets. We haven't played for years, and when I tried to introduce D&D 5e they just got stunned with analysis-paralysis, and didn't know what to do lol. This game promises to simplify the rules-experience without sacrificing the game experience. I have to admit, I've never been a fan of random stat rolling, but watching the fun you had going through it ... I'm almost sold :) My only issue is we can't play frequently enough to just churn through random characters, especially when some players want to play a "concept", so I'll probably have to tweak the "death chance" slightly, but not so much the players don't take it seriously. Anyway, great job putting this together, I wish I'd known about the kickstarter in time to support it.
