The original Superfrog on Amiga is much better and more playable than the new Superfrog HD

In general, the strategy of making the individual not know what exactly they did wrong, is a strategy performed for many many years by people in power when they want the people "beneath" them to be too afraid to do anything that could be even remotely bad/against the rules. The communists and the nazis did it "wonderfully" and it is not really anything knew. That's why they never go into detail and never answer exactly what you did wrong. It's a fascist strategy that works.

Set both difficulty switches to A. You need to push the button and push the Joystick in the direction you want to fire. Much better game without the auto front fire continually going.

I had this... It was a great but very short game

We got our 2600 at Christmas in 1982; I had to play Combat (by myself) until my birthday in April, when I got Vanguard. It was my favorite arcade game at the time.

Well, if the guys that review content on youtube do not know what they're doing... maybe they shouldn't be doing it, right? hahahaha!! Anyway, glad you got this sorted!!

It's funny Vanguard looks like a really good pre-Activision game. But it actually came out in 1982 so it was competing with River Raid, Chopper Command, Pitfall, and Yar's Revenge. It's cool the little things that make the graphics more interesting without using memory, like cycling through the rainbow. But the thing that really stands out is the way the borders of the play field are pretty complex on every stage. It must be somewhat procedurally generated. And the enemies are always flying under the background, which makes it look more interesting than most 2600 games. It almost makes it look like there's parallax scrolling going on, even though there' no distant background texture, since the enemies are going a different speed than the scenery.

To boost your score you can dock with 3 of the snakes in the second to last stage before the Gond. Just collide with the snake and you'll score a ton of points. To really max out the scoring in that stage you can shoot a snake then dock with the debris and you'll score for killing it and docking with it. You only get to dock with 3 snakes per round though. Also, you can max your score by NOT shooting the Gond right away. The longer you hold out the more points you score but watch out 'cuz the barrier at the bottom will start working it's way up the screen.

You should let the space snakes bite you and you get extra points, but you can only do it three times. Also, don’t kill the Gond right away. Hold the button so you don’t fire and the longer you wait, the more points you get.

I do understand Nintendo getting P'oed at getting there current games ripped off unfortunately it's made them very aggressive on all emulation on platforms and software they no longer make available as hard as they try good luck with the latter. I did go ahead and get Frenzy and Crystal Quest. It does seem kind of silly to get the 7800+ when the 2600+ plays 7800 games.

That box art on 2600 Vanguard was by none other than Ralph McQuarrie (concept designer for Star Wars). I'm impressed that they actually included the charge-up music, which was blatantly ripped off from Queen's soundtrack for Flash Gordon (however, they omitted the music that plays at the beginning which was blatantly ripped off from the Star Trek: The Motion Picture theme, better known today as the Star Trek: The Next Generation theme though it wasn't yet that at the time).

Being a shooter & having the vertical & horizontal stages Vanguard always felt like a spiritual prequel to Lifeforce on the NES to me.

Fpga for the 2600 is what I would have dreamed. Just bring it trully back and be open to homebrews! that would have nailed it imo. Then later do the same to the 7800.

I'm mixed on what to do with this video. Recent conversations with KZbin support have changed my direction but I don't think this should be removed from the record. There ARE some changes coming up on my channel, but I'm at least 90% sure I can avoid having problems in the future. My real problem is that the title looks like click-bait to me, but I don't want to erase it and make it seem like I am trying to cover the video up. So the question is this: Should I just change the thumbnail to reflect that there is an update coming, just leave it be? I'm probably over thinking it, but I hate the YT drama circle SO DARN MUCH! I don't want to feel like I am contributing to it. Thoughts?
