Thanks. Just had my fuel pump done and its long starts now. Clearly it's not maintaining prime. This has to be the issue.

Worried about drilling by using machine shop tools? Anyone without a drill has no chance having the tools used in this video! Most spray cans can be repressurized wirh a rubber tire valve stem. There are also empty aerosl cans that can be purchased that are a lot less trouble.

Given the current Amazon coupon for this gadget it’s a steal. Hell, I paid $350 for my ancient Autel MaxiDiag Elite 10 years or so ago and it’s a code reader, clear dtcs and some rudimentary live data at best.

I am not sure what the difference between the D8W or the D8S is but if I turn my scanner off it might drop from 100% to 98% or 97%. Mine is nice and fast on everything I have had it connected to.

This couldn't come at a better time. I literally have the xtoool d8w and the IP819TP and have been undecided about which to keep. The D8W feels more solid, with a bigger screen back stand, and the main difference is that it has a topology. The IP819Tp is smaller, more outdated, and no type c charging, but it has TPMS functionality. For the topology, I was weighing keeping the D8W and buying the TP150 to go with it. But think I'm going to do without Topology and keep IP819TP

Just at a glance it looked like the Launch was more accurate. The Xtool seems to just bunches everything together but we wouldnt really know without confirming. I've heard Autel has the most accurate Topology, im sure its not without its faults though.
@737mechanicКүн бұрын
I agree but of course, Autel is a more expensive scan tool, so they probably put more time into the topology to ensure it is as accurate as possible.

I asked the Snap-On guy on KZbin why Snap-On doesn't offer topology. He said because it's not reliable. Yet. So, yeah, the "topology map" is a gimmick.

Looks like a great way to die. "They say these cans are rated for 100 lbs...." Who is "they?" What happens over time as the can corrodes? I'm not opposed to the idea, but putting 100 psi into a thin walled tin can is a death wish. That's a lot of square inches and an exploding can would cut you like a razor. 15-20 psi, maybe. But 100? HELL NO! A pertinate piece of information would be to know the psi charge for the original product.

Well to be fair, a real diag would include looking at the actual wiring diagram. I have used topology for a diag but in the end I used the wiring diagram to actually dig in an do some work. Good observation however.
@737mechanic2 күн бұрын
Totally agree which goes back to not being able to rely on the topology but many people seem to believe the y need a scan tool with topology.
@katzenpapa2 күн бұрын
@@737mechanic Yes I 100% agree with, I would not buy a scantool based on if it has topology or not. If the scantool meets my needs, and just do happened to have topology then that great. I use it (loosely) as a guide but never as the gospel.

Misfire data is under live data for my GMC. The live data sucks on Xtool for a random misfire that is intermittent because it’s total misfire counts reset constantly so you can’t gather information from a drive around town without recording the entire trip and then rewatching the entire trip so you can’t gather information write the misfires down and tally them. The Xtool will show a maximum number his during a short misfire cycle, but won’t tally the totals beyond the short cycle. So your Xtool my say you have two misfires on cylinder 2 when you could have 500 because is was a misfire every short cycle, not trip. This is even more of a kick in the junk if it says you have 6 in cylinder 4 but 2 in cylinder 1. You focus on cylinder 4 but the number could actually be cylinder 4 had had 6 misfire during one cycle on a 20 mile drive but cylinder 1 actually had 2 misfires during every cycle resulting in Xtool showing two but it actually had 200 misfires in 20 miles. Xtool needs to get their stuff together. I reported the issue about a year ago and they still haven’t fixed it. I also bought a GearWrench scan tool only to find out it does the same thing because it’s a rebranded Xtool. I tested a launch Creader light that was $120 that only does Gm. It has had far better software and layout over the Xtool. That cemented my decision. I just bought a Launch x431 cr919xbt elite that will be here Monday. Xtool has features shotgunned on it so they look good on a spec sheet. Launch have features that are integrated so they can be used. 👍

It would be interesting to see which one is accurate, if either. I’ll admit (and lucky) that I’ve yet to be so deep in the weeds on a repair to even need topology. Edit: Insightful demo, I recall you making the same statement in another video and I moved topology way down on my hit list of needs. I’ve never had it and thus far don’t wish I did.
