i can't find a video showing how to place the gutermann thread on a vertical spool holder. printing up or printing down? how do we set up the spool on the vertical spool holder so it spins correctly? thanks. amy
@MeDeniseWild
@MeDeniseWild 4 жыл бұрын
On a vertical spool holder, keep the thread spool standing upright (so the sticker on top of the Gütermann thread spool stays at the very top). If the setup of your machine causes the thread to get caught in the bottom of your spool for some reason, then go ahead and flip the spool upside down. They key is you don’t want the thread to get caught in the spool at all, instead coming off it smoothly and effortlessly!

@pinksugarfluff - Walmart absolutely does NOT have everything that these stores do, but I am sure the inventory is kept up-to-date and inline with fashion trends seen at mobile home parks nationwide.

YatesNYC I agree with you that these have more luxurious and selective fabrics. You can find some gems at Walmart, for example I found a green fabric on sale for $0.50/yd that was amazing to work with and then I went to a store in the district and found the same fabric in purple for like $4/yd. sometimes you can find similar dupes lol

I do love Walmart, but I definitely don’t see its sewing section comparing to the variety and selection in NYC’s Garment District!😉❤️

How do you backstitch on a decorative stitch?
@MeDeniseWild
@MeDeniseWild 6 жыл бұрын
Great question! I love using a lock stitch to secure the beginning and end of a decorative stitch. A lock stitch puts three stitches in the exact same spot, so it doesn't make a thread mess, but it still secures the thread ends. If you don't have a lock stitch on your sewing machine, you can do a straight stitch with lowered feed dogs (so that the fabric doesn't move and the stitches all occur in the same spot) or put the stitch length as small as it will go. But check your machine first or call the manufacturer. Some sewing machines do an automatic lock stitch at the beginning and end of a decorative stitch. Hope that helps!

Any details on using the needle threader?
@MeDeniseWild
@MeDeniseWild 6 жыл бұрын
Yes! I should film a video on it. But it's really so easy, a video might even be pointless. LOL! You pass the thread through the numbered threading system: 6, 7, and then 8 is the thread cutter on the side of the machine, so you bring it from back to front through the cutter. Then you depress the number 9 lever on the left side of the machine and it threads your needle perfectly in half a second. It's AMAZING! Before this machine, I would never use a needle threader on a sewing machine because it was always faster for me to thread the needle by hand. But this one is incredible and SUPER fast and easy! I love using it!

Oh, I know, I'm so sorry about that!!! :( This was the very first video I filmed, and I did it over 10 years ago using my BlackBerry. It's also the first video I edited, so I had NO skills and didn't think through how distracting the music might be. I wish I had the original files to redo it. My intention is to one day refilm it with much better equipment, skills, and lighting. One day! :)

I'm not familiar with that machine. Does your hand wheel have an inner portion and an outer portion to the dial? Some older machines are like that, in which case you hold the outer portion stable with one hand while you turn the inside with the other hand. Have a look at your machine and let me know!

HI, can you drop the feed dog down to do free motion sewing for quilting on an industrial sewing machine ?
@MeDeniseWild
@MeDeniseWild 6 жыл бұрын
Not that I know of. I think these machines are just for regular sewing (you can't even do a zigzag stitch) at super quick speeds. Industrial machines are used in factories and in fashion schools. My guess is for a quilting-specific industrial-quality machine, the best option is a long-arm machine.

MY UPPER THREAD IS NOT PICKING UP THE LOWER THREAD.WHAT SHALL I DO?THANKS.
@MeDeniseWild
@MeDeniseWild 6 жыл бұрын
There are three things you need to do to ensure this happens. First, make sure you're holding the upper thread taught against the sewing machine. (This will provide adequate resistance.) Second, you have to turn your handwheel TOWARD you. (Sometimes people turn it away from themselves instead of toward.) Third, you need to turn the hand wheel through one complete cycle. Watch the take-up lever go all the way down and all the way back up. If the take-up lever isn't all the way up, it's not a complete cycle. Sometimes people watch the needle, in which case a cycle hasn't been completed and the bobbin thread hasn't been caught. Watch this video at 7:20: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZnSmHd4n7eLgck. (Forgive me for how ancient this is. It's the first video I ever recorded, done about 10 years ago on a BlackBerry!) Keep me posted!

Oh no! That sucks! You're so right, it's unfortunately not a one-size-fits-all solution. Some fibres react differently, and yes, sadly, some fabric dyes might not hold on through the process. **PSA: Try a spot test first. Thanks, Pashan! :)

Thank you for your video's. I have this Machine and trying to figure it all out. How do you delete saved patterns and also my needle position defaults to left. How do I change position. Thanks!!
@MeDeniseWild
@MeDeniseWild 7 жыл бұрын
You're so welcome! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Isn't the machine amazing????? To change the needle position, you have to choose a different stitch. Look at the stitch diagram. You'll see an oval with a dot in the middle. That's an overview of your presser foot, so that oval is the oval within your presser foot, and the dot is the needle position. So instead of choosing a stitch where the dot is on the left, choose the same stitch but with the dot in the centre. That's why you'll see multiple options for a straight stitch.
