Would be a nice follow up video as I can’t find anything online

My Corsa's got error P1405, just took my EGR valve off and cleaned the heck out of it. Still not sure if that'll fix my problem though, as it wasn't *that* dirty, like not properly clogged. So I'm debating whether I should just get a new EGR valve altogether maybe? I guess I'll give all the pipes a good cleaning tomorrow, as you suggested to that other guy. I guess my coolant level was quite low, so that could also just be the issue I guess? Thanks for the explanation, great video!

If your are replacing with a new shock (and why wouldn't you ) why can't you just cut the drop link bracket off with a disc cutter
@youtubeshowedmehow75463 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. Mine didn't need replacing I was removing it as part of my bi-annual undersealing of the whole car inc under the arches, so I thought I would video how to take off the struts while I was at it. NB, my drop links didn't need replacing but I replaced them as I had a set that had been in my garage for a while. But yes you're right, if you're replacing the suspension, as you should if you have the original suspension that suffers from severe and dangerous rot, then you can angle grind it off.

Thought the idea was to clean plug and seat of the vave. Dont see how cleaning the chamber is going to accomplish to much. When the device is off the car, the valve is shut. Would think that by removing the solenoid electrical part the plug may come out off the valve allowing the plug and seat to be cleaned. Any body else taken it a step further?

@Goc673 жыл бұрын
My proposal is to separate the halves with only a chisel and hammer. It is easy. Then you can remain the steering "holes" (you will understand it when you see it) or grind them down with a file, but keep the same size holes, screws and structural integrity of the bracket. Drilling up the holes is ruining the bracket.

@youtubeshowedmehow75464 жыл бұрын
Yep, 300,000 km is definitely a good time to give it a clean. You can only test it once it's back together because the coolant has to flow through. Don't forget to bleed the coolant to get the bubbles out once you add more to top it off or the engine will have problems getting to temperature and keeping the necessary parts cool.

If this was bad would it cause a tapping/knocking noise when cold? Mine looks pretty corroded
@youtubeshowedmehow75464 жыл бұрын
A tapping noise when cold would probably be the chain (as these use a timing chain rather than a belt). Check how much oil you have and if you haven't changed the oil for a while take some time out to get it done. It's an easy job and it goes a long way toward extending the life of a chain. Tapping noises that disappear soon after the car has started tend to be caused by low or old oil, they can also be caused by the car not having been started for some time as the oil sinks to the bottom of the engine and then has to have a few revolutions for the oil to get back up to the top. Either way the tapping should not be constant. A well maintained 1.0 or 1.2 engine should sound like a purring sewing machine if that helps :)
@dexietyy79224 жыл бұрын
@@youtubeshowedmehow7546 the noise does go away when the engine warms up it’s really bad when started from cold but I’ve heard that if the chain was bad my car would struggle to start and lack power but it doesn’t miss a beat is there anything else it could be?

@@dexietyy7922 if it goes away when the engine warms up then the first place i would look is definitely the oil. When was the last time you checked it and changed it? If you have done both very recently then the next thing to look at is the chain itself. The tensioners on them do loosen over time and need to be replaced. If the car is over 100k in miles then it could be that.
