Is it ok to put a pipe wrench on the shaft? Could it cause damage like burrs?

Sophie, I did enjoy the video. Plus finding out about Chesapeake kits ... how nice! I am looking to build a wooden boat and I am considering several different types. Timing is perfect!

We almost bought an oceanis 40, but eventually decided on the oceanis 37, because we felt the 3 ft difference does not justify the 50k dollar price difference

Your other videos have been great but this one misses some important points. The most important one is reserve capacity. When setting up a house bank on a boat you should always plan to have a bank that is at least twice your normal daily consumption, preferably 3 times for offshore. The bank should also be made of at least two batteries. This is to provide enough power to keep essential systems such as navigation and light running in the event of a charger or charging failure. It also gives some leeway for times when we have abnormally high use. Given these parameters we would then have an expected life from a bank made up from 4 quality 6v batteries being discharged to 60% dod on normal days of 5 to 6,000 cycles. Your point about charge time is certainly valid. A typical flooded bank will absorb all the alternator can produce in bulk charging but the needs a further 3 hours to complete the charge cycle and this has to be done regularly to prevent degradation. This used to be a major issue but with the development of solar is much less so. The alternator is used to charge to 85% the solar takes over to complete the cycle. This works for most boats that don't have exceptional demands such as A/C or electric cook stoves in which case you probably should be fitting a generator.

Instead of wacking the flexible pvc pipe against the pier use a massage gun on the outside of the pipe to break up the calcium deposits then flush with seawater. It’s worth a try.

I’m currently living on the hard looking for a new to me used sailboat since my last sailboat visited Davy Jones locker temporarily my income has never been KZbin and if I have my way I’ll never get myself in that predicament I actually sail as a way of life because I have enough money making money to support my habits. I do pay my crew but if they want to pursue a KZbin income then they can but if they start matching their pay then I don’t feel I need to pay them anymore. As long as they don’t forget why they are on my boat in the first place.

So I assume that you are planning to demast and motor the entire Erie Canal from the Hudson River? That’s the main reason I opted for the Wellen Canal trying to sail from Detroit to Chesapeake Bay yes when sailing you have to plan ahead but you also need to be flexible because you won’t get everything completed as you are in route.

Once I took the drug Motilium. It empties the stomach so you can't vomit. Mayby I took once an antipsychoticum like Haloperidol. I am a MD. The worst thing is the vomiting for me.

Do you have on-demand hot water for the shower. It's just amazing how many products are produced in miniaturized versions in Korea, China, Japan, and that work very well.

What do you have for backup should a whale damage your rudder to the extent that the rudder shaft is cracked or split.
