Not only is drug use not a criminal issue... It's not even a "medical issue" for most people who use drugs. It seems we could hardly do worse with any other approach than what we're doing now.

It's a sad state of affairs when you realize that bringing back the old formulation of Oxycontin and liberally prescribing it as before would actually *reduce* overdose deaths. That development is a perfect example of how every attempt to prevent people from feeling good just backfires and makes things worse (more dangerous, more harmful, more toxic), not better.

Drug use is fluid. The myth is that it starts as fun and games and ends in the gutter. I have been at what you call 'the end of the road' and I have been in a state some would call a 'Functioning ' drug user. For over 25+ years which is over half of my life. I work full time and work successfully as a freelance artist in the spare times i have left- and use drugs. I have used and I have had long periods of NON use. As you said "it (this) isnt YOUR story" ..and THAT is exactly what this is about- WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT STORIES. Thanks for sharing yours John. Also- Im pretty sure it was explained that the life going along with drug use is the painful part that no body would wish on their kids. Not the taking of the actual drugs or the possible good experiences. The same that someone wouldn't wish a life of 9-5 work and a mortgage on their kids!! ;-) This video is about putting a human face to drug injecting. Not a stereotypical fear mongering media representation face but a real, independent, look at real people who take drugs. . We have been sold an idea of the type of person that injects drugs and all this video is about is debunking those stigmatising and discriminating stereotypes. Drug users ARE mothers, fathers, sisters brothers, colleagues, the person pan handling on the corner AS WELL as the person serving you coffee, the doctor operating on you or the lawyer representing you. We are ALL SORTS. and as such all have different stories. Even though they arent all good - They are also NOT ALL BAD.

Certainly not my story, I did not want to live as a drug addict, the lifestyle is degrading and shameful ( at least it was for me), these people are either in denial or are not at the end of the road, interesting question was do you want your children to inject? If life is not so bad or injecting not so bad then why would you not want your children to do it?
