@dragonsgaming5921 id say there are two types of "longer" swords which can be viable in team fights. The large one blade sided falchions. Basically a huge difference is the weight of it, being a much wider blade. The other is based off the executioner sword. That flat tipped sword. It's basically like a large crowbar lol.

I can't say anything is impossible, but I've never had anything on them break and I've never had anything (in my hands) broken (and I've taken some incredibly hard polearm hits to the hands). When i pick them up in a couple weeks, maybe I can see if Grettir would want to do a show and tell video so we can see his thoughts on his design and point out the details of them (like enclosed thumb and articulation). Probably the best ironic part that i live in Pittsburgh and can just drive over there lol

you’re not the only one that I ended up having the blade a little bent I received that as well and all the other so I assumed the videos in Amazon as well. Well, the blade isn’t so bad at all I like it I could use it for practice and if I wanted to, I’ll sharpening myself, I could chop down a few tree branches, but I can use it for my log chopping
@BachataKnight15 күн бұрын
Oh! That's some useful data about the blade. Thanks for sharing. Apparently it's not just mine!
@pedrotorres599523 күн бұрын
To me sharpening, the blade is not a problem whether the material is strong or not I can still sharpen it too have a little fun with it and if it breaks so be it at least I know how it feels. I had it with me for the last four months already, and I just used it during this week to do my wood chopping, Of course I didn’t use the sword
@pedrotorres599523 күн бұрын
To be honest, the blade is not that sharp, but I still use it. I cut a few small branches from the tree, but it is good enough to practice your swing with the heavy blade. It did help me get more strength to get used to how to wheel the sword.

I’m planning on going out to a club near me soon. I don’t know if I want to do buhurt, but I do want to own armor lol I don’t mind buhurt I think it looks fun! But I wish there was fighting like the dequitem guy does. I don’t know if there is a name for it since his aim is to recreate what it might have been like for knights to duel to the death, and obviously he has a bunch of tools designed to allow safely stabbing each other etc. I think if I got into buhurt I’d definitely want to do melees just because, but I’d be mainly focused on duels either sword and shield or longsword. Not sure if there are polearm duels but that looks fun too. But because the buhurt is a bit far of a drive to attend frequently I’m also looking in to doing hema and maybe finding some like minded people between buhurt and hema to meet up and get more training in. I am definitely waiting to go to the training for both before I buy anything though. Temptation is strong, but I’ve just been focusing on researching things so I have an idea for what I want and what’s realistic in my budget.
@BachataKnight25 күн бұрын
@caravaneerkhed nice to hear about your interests! The kind of fighting they do is a lot more similar to Harnischfechten. Search that term. I'm sure you could get a buhurt set that some armor pieces would also work with Harnischfechten as well, but since they allow thrusting, you definitely need a specific helmet for it which buhurt does not typically use. Some helmets we use do have potentially acceptable visors. Yeah just make sure you really know if you want to commit before buying proper equipment. IMO just to have armor for show, you could get some cooler looking designs than buhurt armor. Usually lighter gague steel though. But yeah if you wanted armor thay can actually take a hit or two haha, buhurt is the way to go.
@BachataKnight25 күн бұрын

@@BachataKnight i was watching a competition the other day with longswords it was the international, and it looked very similar to hema just without a fight stoppage when someone got hit, but I really liked the display of sword skill in addition to being armored. I've quite enjoyed this video, our buhurt club just finished our Longsword block. From the footwork perspective most of our guys have footwork that looks similar to boxing, nobody uses the "HA" stuff it doesnt have head movement (that I've come across) which should be a rudimentary defence for all combat sport systems 😂, it give a massive boost to head movement to the point where most of our guys can completely slip multiple strikes and safely strike legs for cheap points.

SCA combat rules are mostly BS. For one thing there is no reason why hitting someone with a sword in the thigh would cause someone to fight from their knees since obviously the thigh is above the knee. Also banning lower leg blows creates an unfair advantage for people who use pole weapons. Hitting someone in the top portion of the helmet with the typical sword would also be unlikely to be a decisive blow even if done forcefully unless it was a downward blow with a unusually heavy sword that landed square. Their excuse for banning chain weapons also is designed to make shields seem more effective than they actually were. People who do not agree with their combat rules are also treated with the utmost disrespect in a cult like manor as if they are the antichrist.
@davidmacon1138Ай бұрын
I agree with this statement. It is very clicky groups. Some are really open and accepting but most are little tribes. Rhino-Hides are everywhere. They will not call shots and then after doing this all day, simply insult you by calling you weak. Some fighters will think they are god's gift to whatever and try and order you around. Mostly peacocks that think they are the shite because they fight with extreme rule padding and get absolutely butt hurt when you do knock one on their butt. Even if they seem cool at first, keep a weary eye on them. I stopped this because of the fighters that do this crap. Hypocrisy through and through.
