I literally had to put this vinyl single away and not listen to it anymore. It makes me really happy to reminisce but at my age, the blues catch me and it’s more of a tragic track now. Great song for 20-30 yr olds.

After seven decades of life, we have many memories and feelings that are repressed. This man reaches in to expose them to the light. When I hear his music I am greatful. Thank you.

Back road blues, from the hearts healing and minds troubled. The music from inside the damaged for the damaged so that they may have a guide along the way. Broken men and women trying to write out their battles on paper to release their grip from their souls. This is the most pure form of sharing experience that was hard.

To me, this is country music. Writers him and like him that aren’t well known are true country music artists. Something that’s just not on the radio these days. Rob Baird, Kody green, Shane smith and the saints, Zach Bryan and many others like them are the ones who should be getting country music rewards. Not Morgan wallen who probably doesn’t write 90% of his music.

The song is so relatable and relevant (and will continue to be) for people who had decent childhoods. The lyrics make you feel nostalgic no matter if it's your first time or 55th one, lol.

This song moves me deeply, every time. I discovered him for the first time live. It killed me. He was playing on a double bill with Will Johnson. Anfortunately John didn't have records or else I would have snatched up a whole bunch right there on the spot. I've listened to the entire High on Tulsa Heat album almost exclusively, over and over, for the past few days. I'm not so sure i can get enough of his music.

I was on a TST Time Sensitive Target team, my mid tour vacation came around right after a mission, I literally went from being air inserted to a field at night via Blackhawk, running through the town under night vision taking down suspected to the next day sitting on a beach with my wife for a week then right back over to Iraq lol there are definitely times that are difficult to adjust. Same thing happened on a previous deployment but the day after we got back I was with my family for thanksgiving. I recently retired after 21 years active army and it can still be difficult but those sudden shocks were the most confusing part I think❤
