I view it as the difference between the law and grace. The law is rigid and says "don't look at that," while grace says "look at that ", and points to the cross.

So many golden nuggets, I.e., their hesitation in wanting to directly communicating with God, difference in the law & the prophets, etc. much more. I would love a little more clarification on "this was not written for us." I understand it was not written "to us" at the time, but as grafted in, aren't we also under the same laws, admonitions, standards, etc.? "For us" as well??
