Hey, thanks for this video. Am really struggling with my daughter’s hair ; so I have started on the sister lock journey. However, the parts I am so far done with already have build up (lint), even when I put something to cover her hair at night. What would you advise for me to use to avoid lint buildup?
@Forlocsake

Gorgeous sisterlocs❤❤❤ I’ve been loc’d 5 months now and can’t wait for the length to come. May I ask how you developed buildup?
@leeceyleece2406
@leeceyleece2406 10 ай бұрын
Thank you! The length will be here before you even realise it, enjoy every stage! As for the buildup, I wish I knew 😩😩. I don’t use any products at all, I think it’s got to be my shampoo, maybe some lint? Also, I don’t sleep with my head covered or cover it like most others do generally. So I can’t complain - it’s my own doing. I will dye it at some point. Most annoying thing about the journey. - or only annoying thing.

I am 3 months into my journey and I have to comb them out and start over. I found out that I do not even have the sister lock grid. I went to see another consultant because I noticed I could not make any truly straight lines to do a style I wanted to do. Little did I know, that was the least of my worries. I have holes in my locs throughout my head too. Some of my locs have several holes in one loc. I chose a brand ambassador because I thought I was getting a better consultant. Come to find out, that is just a class to get the title and has nothing to do with their skill level. I did everything I was supposed to do, and yet I am out of 3K and having to start over. There’s no oversight, so I have to take this woman to small claims court to retrieve my money while also spending what I already paid the first loc consultant to my new loc consultant to take down and re-establish my hair. I wish I could upload photos of how atrocious my locs are. It is not enough to go through the sisterlock website, and the titles they carry are no indication of their skill level. You MUST first locate other people who already have sisterlocks and ask them to see their locs and question them about their experience. If they did not get their locs established by the person who does their hair in that moment, keep searching. If it means it will take you longer to find a consultant, IT’S WORTH THE WAIT! You do NOT want to be in the position I am in right now! Once you find a person who can vouch for the work of the consultant who established their locs, THEN you look on the sisterlock website to ensure they are certified. Do NOT start your search with the sisterlock website like I did.

Hi there, thanks for the video, 6 months locked and Im struggling to keep my psoriasis at bay as I've been asked not to wash as much ( I usually wash once a week) so the hair locks. Do you still use this routine?
@leeceyleece2406
@leeceyleece2406 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that, I know how frustrating it can be. Frequent washing isn’t negotiable when you have a scalp condition, it’s necessary. I use aloe gel on my scalp as a pre poo but there was also a steroid ointment that my GP prescribed. I’ve got videos on both here. I no longer need or use the ointment but when things were really bad it helped. Aloe gel and T gel seem to have me well covered. Not sure if you’ve seen a professional, but that would no doubt help.
@ronksb
@ronksb Жыл бұрын
Thank you for replying! I know for a fact that the only thing that helps me is washing regularly. I have to was it every week and that’s not helping my locks. The stuff from the GP works but isn’t practical to use long term ( steroids and all) . I just need to manage it till my hair ‘locks’ 😩. Got the Aloe juice today, trying the mix out without the oils. I hope it helps, the plan is to cut back on washing cos of slippage. Thank you so much for your videos xxx

@leeceyleece2406

Honestly, for me the smell wore off once dry, after a few minutes on my scalp. And as your scalp clears, I assume you’ll use less of it, less often? But probably something to talk through with your doctor or whoever prescribed it. Best wishes

Thank you! I have some videos on the products I use but the truth is, not many! Rosewater occasionally but more on my daughters locs and scalp. I tend to use a mixture of water, aloe juice and some essential oils - rosemary and lemongrass. With my daughter, sometimes I use argan oil in her scalp after moisturising if her hair is feeling dry. Washing regularly (every 2 weeks at least) tends keeps our scalps and locs fresh and moisturised.
